No sound when playing cd

By doc j on Oct 10, 2007

I can play the radio. I can play the cassettes. Sound comes from the speakers. Then when I put a cd in the tray and play it, there is no sound. The cd is spinning; the tray will move to the next cd, and the display shows the track playing; but there is no sound coming from the speakers.

Same Problem

-   With my Sharp Model BA150, radio and tape functions are fine, but with CD, I get no sound.-   Guest

-   My problem is the same. When a CD is put in the disc tray, the screen will say "reading disc" but the cd will not actually play ( though I can hear it spinning in the tray) and if you press the play button when it says "reading disc" , then it says "please wait" and then a few seconds later goes right back to say "reading disc" again. What is wrong and what can be done to fix this?-   Elisheva

What's cooking!? I too occasionally experience a similar problem with the RCA RS2042. When switching to the CD source, I receive sound from one speaker, while the other is faint. I have found that if you open the back and fotz around with the speaker connections (the system, not the speakers themselves), it will correct the problem. Have patience! Take care. -D

- Have you tried unplugging the system? As I had previously stated, re-insert the left & right speaker inputs in the back, and then unplug the stereo. That should do the trick!!

Coming from the cd lens inside the unit are connectors; make sure those connectors are secure at the lens assembly and where it terminates at the other end. I had that same problem and I believe that helped. Now I can get sound from the cd.

Hope this helps.
