Question about Toshiba Satellite P15-S479 Notebook
Hi, I am thinking of replacing my Matshita UJ-811B DVDRAM drive on my P15-S479 laptop. How do I go about doing it? Is it just sufficient to find a new DVDRAM drive of the same model and just replace it? Thanks.
Hello, The previous answer is WRONG. You do NOT have to open up your laptop. I am very familiar with the P15 family of laptops. On the bottom of the laptop toward the rear of the DVD drive is ONE screw. Remove this screw & the DVD drive will slide out the front. Then just slide your new one in & replace the screw. You could just replace it with one of the same model or try to find a different drive entirely. The UJ-811B drives have a reputation for being problematic. I heard the Pioneer K16 should fit but I havent tried it yet. The bezel would not be the same though. Hope this helps.
