id look in the right side groove and you will see a tiny microswitch that wont allow power to the element unless its sitting in the cradle I simply took the 4 screws off in the back of the heating element control and by passed it by connecting the 2 red wires and it worked so now I got to find the microswitch but at least I can use it
You can go to T-Fal website they have replacement parts the new element is $101.99. i need a new element also but thinking of buying a whole new unit and keep old one for parts
It didn't take me very much time or effort to type into a google search "how to contact rival deep fryer" and the results came back with this:
Rival Consumer Service
PO BOX 3900
Peoria, IL 61614
Telephone: 1-800-323-9519
Our Rival deep fryer stopped working one night...just after christmas, I figured with the holidays I would wait and contact them after... I had forgotten to until today when my husband reminded me to... So after phoning them, and speaking with Alex, I now have a free replacement cord being sent, and the deep fryer was a few days over the warranty...
I don't know if this is the true answer or just works with ours, but if I hold the on button (for heating) and the program button together in a couple seconds it stops blinking and resets to the temperature mode. When that hasn't worked, it's also worked to hit the rest button in the back first and hold for a couple seconds and then hit the two buttons mentioned above together. However, each time I get the ERR message it gets harder and harder to reset. I would love for someone else to respond for the actual "fix" for this as it's looking to be the actual computer part of the thermastat to us and I'm wondering if it's worth fixing or shopping for a new fryer is needed for price. But, this has gotten us through for now to be able to fry again.
