SOURCE: 1995 dual tank fuel transfer problem

There was a fuel line check valve recall on these back in the day. It should have exterior check valves between each line and the fuel pump/ sending unit inlets and outlets. You will have to be looking right at each fuel pump assembly to see if these are installed. Someone may have replaced a pump without reinstalling the check valves. If the connection to the fuel pumps looks the same as the ones on the filter (left side of frame under driver's seat), there is not a check valve installed. It will be an obvious extra fitting between 2 and 3 inches long. Otherwise, you will have to replace the rear fuel pump/sending unit as an assembly. I believe that is the only (and best) way to buy and install it. You can drop the tank, but it's sometimes easier to take out the carriage bolts in the box and raise it for easier access to the fuel pumps. The filler tubes have to be disconnected from the box, as well as the light wiring.

SOURCE: 1992 f 159 dual tanks fuel guage not working

You will need to remove the wire for the sending unit on the tank and ground it to the frame with your selector switched to the tank you are working on and the key on. If gauge comes up to full then the sending unit is bad and gauge is good. Repeat process on other tank. The fuel tank switching valve on the frame also switches the wiring signal from either tank for the gauge. If no change with first test you will want to check the valve.

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FUEL LINES WHERE THE FUEL PRIMING PUMP IS CONNECTED FOR ANY CHAFFING THEY ARE COMMON FOR CHAFFING BESIDE THE FUEL FILTER WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY FUEL IS RETURNING TO FUEL TANK.

The rear only supplies fuel to the front tank. The front tank has the high pressure pump in it, to supply the fuel rail.

SOURCE: how do i replace front fuel pump on a 1995 ford f150 5.0litre extended cab dual tanks how do i remove tank

May be easier to loosen rear box bolts, remove the
front bolts & tip up the bed, rather than lay on your back
& have to drop the tank & that way you don't have the
fuel removal issue, can stand there & just work on top
of tank

How do I replace the Fuel Pump in my 2002 Cadillac Seville SLS

Hello ray......

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. You can access the fuel tank thru the trunk. Inside the trunk and underneath the carpet, there is a access panel. Remove the five screws and lift the access panel. There under the panel you will see the pump. Disconnect it and take it to the auto parts store as they usually want the old one for an exchange. Where do i place my floor jacks for storing my mustang?

under the chassis so the springs have no load on them ,if storing for any length of time drain the fuel tank or it will go all funny like turps and damage the fuel pump ,empty tank by disconnecting the feed pipe to teh fuel rail and then putting an external pump onto this pipe sucking it out or run a direct feed to the tank pump and let that pump it out if the external pump cannot **** it out through the tank pump .

Bike did not run for a few months , and now when I am starting engine runs and then stops after a minute or two.any help? bad fuel?

This sounds like a typical case of gas going bad and possible rust in your gas tank. Best to drain ALL gas from your tank - if you can easily remove it - take off the petcock and rinse the tank with fresh gas - look for any flakes of rust in the gas you drain out. Once you have the tank fully flushed - clean or replace your fuel filter and I would suspect that it will run just fine.
If you are not going to ride for an extended time frame - add Fuel Stabilizer" to the tank before putting it up. This is available at your local auto parts store. You will thank yourself for taking this precaution.

IT WILL RUN OUT OF THE NECK WHEN IT IS FULL.THE FIX IS SIMPLE REPLACE THE FRONT FUEL PUMP. THEY DONT MAKE A CHECK VALVE REPLACEMENT I CHECKED I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU.

1991 aerostar with blown head gasket, how do I drain the fuel tank

If you're going to junk it, just "ice pick" the gas tank and have plenty of proper containers to put the gasoline in. I saw that happen when I was in a scrap yard getting parts. The ppl who run the place just poked a hole in the tank and let it empty into a barrel.
