Duplicate emails in Outlook Express?

When Outlook Express is configured for POP3 mail access it uses a file called pop3uidl.dbx to keep track of which message have been downloaded so that it can download only new messages. Sometimes this file becomes corrupted which results in the same messages getting downloaded again. So we will need a different copy of this file. Please do the following to recreate it:

- In Outlook Express click on Tools and Options.
- Click on maintenance tab.
- Click on Store folder button.
- It will open a small window with a path to the store folder.
- Copy the whole path.
- Click on start and Run.
- Click inside the run box and press Ctrl+V, it will paste the whole path we copied.
- Click on OK. It will open the store location.
- Close Outlook Express.
- In the folder that was opened, locate the pop3uidl.dbx file and right click on it and select rename.
- Rename that to pop3uidlold.dbx.
- Open Outlook Express and you will no longer receive any duplicate messages.

If you are using IMAP account, that can happen if your IMAP account is the default mail account and OE is configured to both open directly to the Inbox (which downloads headers automatically) and check for new messages when starting (which also downloads headers automatically). To stop the duplicates, simply choose one option or the other, but not both:

In Outlook Express click Tools > Options, then
1. Remove the check mark for When starting, go directly to my ‘Inbox’ folder
OR
2. Remove the check mark for Send and receive messages at startup.

If you already have duplicates showing, click Tools > Synchronize Account or Synchronize All.

Inbox messages duplicated in Junk file

The time to time cleaning of your Outlook mailbox is a good routine to adapt as it makes sure that your mailbox remains free from any duplicate items. But once the mailbox database and the size of other folders become large, it becomes quite difficult to remove the duplicacy of the database. To avoid manual efforts, a dedicated Outlook duplicacy software can be used. To download one such tool visit http://www.outlookduplicateemails.net

Outlook express mail keeps repeating- over and over

To fix the same messages coming from a POP account again and again:

Since Outlook Express has just lost even the rest memory of which mail it has already seen, expect all mail still on the server to be retrieve the next time you click Send/Recv. After that, mail retrieve should return to normal, however.

All duplicates already received can be eliminated fast with a duplicate removal tool.

Email support

If you want to remove duplicates in outlook you have to remove copy to server once you downloaded the mails. Here is how to do it:

open your Outlook > Tools > Email Accounts > select View or Change Existing e-mail accounts and click next > double click email account Name > click More Settings > Click Advance > then UNMARK the Leave a copy to Server.

Note: If you are using the same account in more than one computer, only the first to download will receive the emails.

Duplicate e-mails

Hi,

Here is the solution for you

Or

1. How to stop receiving duplicate email messages

There are a few things you can check to stop duplicate email messages.

Start by checking Rules to be sure that copies are not being made to the Inbox, and make sure that all your rules end in "Stop Processing" actions.

Then check the task manager to be sure that there is only one instace of Outlook running.

Two instances of outlook.exe running can produce two messages arriving at the same time.

You will need to then determine why two instances of Outlook were running in the first place.

Another thing you can do is to delete/remove ALL your e-mail accounts and recreate them. This worked for some people.

Finally, another person had this happen when he had two e-mail accounts set up - using two e-mail addresses, but the same POP3 incoming and same SMTP outgoing.

What happened is that the second account was getting the e-mails from the POP3 server before they were actually deleted after the first account was finished.

If this is the problem you can disable the receive on the second account.

And

2. How to remove Outlook duplicates, including email, contacts, appointments, and tasks

If you have just a few duplicates, it may be easiest to manually remove them. For emails, this is no problem but for any other Outlook item it is easiest to view the items in a table view, then select the duplicates, then delete them.

To accomplish this, go to View...By Category (or "By" anything really). This gets the view into a mode you can work with.

Click either names or subjects (or any shown field) in the column header (in the gray area) to gather similar items together.

You can then delete all the duplicates you find.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

How do I fix double entries after Hotsync

Manual unduplication in Outlook. Everyone who synchronizes databases has to deal with dupes once in a while. Here is a really excellent method for manually removing the duplicates within Outlook. It looks complicated but it is really easy to do. The principle is this - every record created in Outlook has a creation date/time stamp. When your data got duplicated during a HotSync operation, all of the duplicate records bear a date/time stamp of that synchronization - usually all the duplicates were created within about one minute of one-another.
