Rice cooker retractable cord

Can I fix or buy a new re-tractable chord/ or the whole retractable cord part. My chord was cut off at the plug in... Can I just open the retractor case and put a new chord . If yes .Is the chord one i can just plug into the retractor or is it soldered in?

Yes thanks, I did do that. I emailed them first. The company is In Japan and closed on weekends, so I was hoping someone one knew off hand on this forum. I was concerned about if soldering was needed.. Tiger is the company and the rice cooker is the TIGER JNP-S10U... Thanks again :-)

Either go to the manufacturers web site and locate the particular model of your rice cooker- check for a schematic and/or parts list. Or call them and ask if they have replacement parts for the particular model of the rice cooker you own.

I was able to download a copy of the user's manual and I see that the retractable ac cord is built in to the cooker. Unfortunately the manual does not have a schematic or even a parts svhematic. I would wait out the weekend and contact the company; I'm sure they'll be able to help you get a replacement part or even offer you a sweet deal on replacing the entire cooker. Or take it to a repair facility that specializes in appliance repairs. It's not worth risking a fire or even smoke damge/inhalation should the power cord have a defect anywhere in the line.

SOURCE: rice cooker vs a crocpot/slow cooker

I have both and use both for different things. The rice cooker cooks faster than the slow cooker. What the Crockpot does really well, the rice cooker cannot do. For example, with the crock pot, you can buy less expensive cuts of meat and because of the slow cook method, they will be tender, juicy, and delicious. You can make soups, stews and casseroles in a crock pot and the great thing is that you can turn it on low, go to work, and when you come home, dinner is done. You can cook the same types of things in a rice cooker but you can't leave it all day. You CAN saute', fry, etc,. in your rice cooker which you can't do in a crock pot but for dense veggies and tougher cuts of meat, stew beef for example, there's no comparison. I have an Oster Rice Cooker and Steamer which I use nearly every day. I cook rice, obviously, casseroles, veggies, spaghetti and meatballs, all kinds of side dishes and soups in it. I use the crockpot several times a week but more often in the Fall and Winter when I make soups, stews, chilis, roasts and BBQ. Oh my gosh, you have to try BBQ Ribs in the crock pot! They melt in your mouth. Go to Yahoo! Groups. You'll find all kinds of great info for both your rice cooker and crock pot. I have one of the fancier, more expensive crock pots because I take it to work with me one day a week for lunch. The lid seals and it comes with a carrier. If you do most of your cooking at home, you can spend a little less and get a good one. I recommend getting one that has at least 3 heat settings though. Different foods require different temps. Happy Cooking!

SOURCE: Rice burning at bottom of cooker

I also have this problem and I fixed it by adding in a little more water and by removing the power cord from the outlet immediately after the cooker finishes it's cycle. Not ideal, but it does save my rice.

Hi i am using a tefal rice cooker but suddenly there is no power coming. i mean no light showing if i put on the electric socket. thanks

assuming that the socket does have power, then i would assume there is a blown thermistor fuse in the cooker itself. it is a temperature fuse that is wired inline to your power cord to protect against excessive high temperature. not easily fixed. cheaper to buy new rice cooker.

Rice cooker retractable cord burned.

If the mechanical part is still good then any handy person can replace the cord with any purchased cord but to do so safely it would be best to have someone with electrical training to do so

Looking for Ultrex II Electric Pressure Cooker Cord

Any generic appliance cord should work. You can try Home Depot or Lowes they have some cords. Just make sure you get the same gage and approximate length cord. You can also buy cords on line from appliance supply websites. Good luck. If you have any more questions please ask. Please rate me so I know if I helped. Thanks.

Rice burning at bottom of cooker

Your cooker, along with mine, cooks very hot. If it is new then you can take it back, but if you want to cook with it then you need to stir the rice often. About every 5 minutes should be good. As soon as it is done you need to remove it from the cooker. Let's see how that works.
