Limit switches are safeties and require a manual reset. They are also a Normally Closed contact. A hi temp. thermostat operates on its own. If you are sure it is a limit, find the red little button and listen for it to click. Sometimes they push pretty hard.

If jumping 1 to 7 is blowing the fuse it sounds like a bad board. Not familiar with those but as you said, normally closed limit would be the same as a jumper. Check your dip switches first but I'm thinking bad board/direct short.

This is the close limit sensor so yes it should work. They have them for $2.40 right now from an Amazon vendor - http://www.amazon.com/Genie-Excelerator-Close-Switch-33950S/dp/B00283OBXY/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A1CTO3U79X1RZ3

You can also buy replacement sensors as a 10 pack in case you end up needing more from here -

As long as it still has 2 hi limit switches, this will be easy.

You will need one wire going from one limit switch to the other. (on any terminal)
take either of the incoming wires from the old limit wiring and connect to second terminal on either limit switch.
Now take the last remaining wire and connect ot to the last terminal on the second limit switch.

Basically, you are just creating a bridge. Power will go into first limit switch, then go into the second limit switch via the first wire indicated above. Then the power will go back out to the pc board. If a high limit switch trips, then power is cut off (cicuit opens) and it tells the cpu there is a problem and shuts down the heater.

So to simplify: connect the wire in between the two limit switches. Then put the other 2 wires anywhere.

Hello, a limit switch will open when the furnace overheats due to restricted airflow, check the blower wheel make sure it is clean and also make sure the blower motor is running at good speed and not dragging. Sometimes a weak capacitor can slow down a blower motor to the point that the limit switch will open. Not sure what kinda tune up the tech did but you dont replace a limit switch untill the cause of the limit switch opening is found.

Chamberlin garage door opens to top limit bounces back to return down about 6 inches and then returns to open limit. What adjustments are neccessary?

The limit switch of both the sides are not reached. The drive must be realigned to work till the door closes fully so as to touch the limit swittch to switch off.
Similarily the open door must go to the extreme point to cut off with the activation of the limit switch.
