Question about Dell Latitude E6420 PC Notebook
Need to unlock the bios psword for dell latitude e6420
The solution depends on whether your laptop was made before or after 2004. If it is a post-2004 model, you must call Dell Support to reset the password for you.
If it is a pre-2004 model, you can follow these steps:
Perform the safety steps in the order below.
Warning: these steps are for your personal safety and the protection of the equipment.
Turn off your computer, and then unplug the power cable.
To use the jumper to reset the BIOS password
Note: On the Dell Manuals page, download the Setup Guide or Service Manual for your laptop. Then refer to the System Board Components section for a labeled illustration of the jumpers on the motherboard.
If there are 2 metals pins under the jumper
If there are 3 pins under the jumper
You can now assign a new system and/or setup password. For more password information, refer to the Passwords section of your laptop's service manual.

Clearing the CMOS will reset the password...
Take the button cell battery out for a few minutes, put it back in, and all settings, including the password, should go back to defaults.
Unfortunately it looks like your BIOS battery is under the keyboard...
Dell has got what looks like decent directions here, for getting at it:
