Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

Kenmore 106.53642300 will not fill the ice maker, 58 volts to the ice maker, ice maker will rotate is 58 normal?

One nite the ice maker stuck in the fill position and dumped about 2 gallon of water into the freezer. We got a new ice maker and can not get it to fill. I have checked and get 58 volts to the ice maker. The fingers on the ice maker will turn but I don't get water to it. Is this normal voltage or has a board or fuse opened so I only get half the voltage?

SOURCE: ICE MAKER NOT WORKING Kenmore cold Spot model# 106.55536400

Most common problem is a broken ice maker module.  Should also replace ice maker thermostat when changing the module.  Make sure fill tube isn't frozen first. If you take the ice maker out pull off the plastic cover and in the center of the wheel that kind of looks like a gear there are two little plastic studs.  If one is broke or they are pressed together then the module is bad. Make sure to replace the thermostat along with some silicone grease because a bad thermostat is what causes the module to break.

SOURCE: Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen

Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.

SOURCE: Kenmore ice maker problem

I'm not sure in your case if its better to order a new ice maker or if you want to take it apart and change the thermostat or possibly the limit switches. Some have a spring so if you try to do it yourself do it slowly and carefully as not to lose the internal parts. Let me know, I will help you if you need, Sea Breeze

Timer ice maker kenmore side

If the timer piece you are referring to is behind the square white cover, and it's moving slightly back and forth, you should visually check the ice making area it's self to see if the ejector fingers are jammed with ice, or against the ice stripper. Ice Maker jams can be caused by reduced water pressure to the unit mainly from the water filter, your water filter in the toe kick should be replaced at an interval of 6 months to a year, regardless of filter status light. When water pressure is low, not enough water fills the unit and the undersized cubes can become lodged or stuck in the ice maker while being ejected, equally so if there is an over fill situation caused by other failures the ice maker can't eject at all. Kenmore Model 106.53609202 Ice Maker not working

You can test the ice maker by pulling the from cover off and exposing the modular head as they call it. You will see holes around the gear with letters next to them. Take a jumper wire and place one in the M hole and the other end into the N hole. This should kick start the ice maker. When you here a click sound, sometimes you'll see a little spark behind the gear which is normal. When this happens pull the jumper wire out and the ice maker should do its normal cycle. Things to check for also is the fill tube blocked with ice, is the temperature in the freezer below 10 degrees F? These things will cause the ice maker not to work as well.

My ice maker doesn't make enough ice cubes

Is the ice maker itself filling normally, meaning where the cubes are made gets enough water to cover the complete area or just a few slots? If not then check the fill tube where the water comes into the ice maker to make sure no ice has formed blocking the water from coming in.
Now if ice production in general has slowed, going from every 45 minutes or so to like every 6 hours, then your machine more than likely isn't getting cold enough. The ice maker requires the temperature be at least 10 degrees F or below for it to function properly.

Ice maker will not make ice. Water valve has been replaced. I know nothing about this unit.

Without knowing the type, you could check the fill tube going through the back wall of the freezer into the ice maker. If this is not clear, and froze up with ice, you will have to clear it out. That should fix your problem.

However if this is clear, the ice maker may need service. The newer ones are a module design., if you pull the cover off you will see holes with letters these are test holes( L and N for example is to verify 120 volts). Also ice makers have to be in the 0 to 10 degrees F temp. area to work properly, a one dollar outdoor thermometer stuck in the freezer can verify this.(one with a liquid stem, mercury or alcohol)
just a few ideas,
good luck

Ice maker not making ice. red light on control panel blinking twice.

Remove the ice bucket and inspect the ice maker for an ice cube stuck in the ejector. Hit it with a little heat of a hair dryer till it gets loose and the ice maker starts rotating. Replace the ice bucket. See if it starts making ice again amigo.

Ice maker cycling but getting stuck

Either you have a bad heating element (soften the ice to eject) or a stripped gear in Ice Maker either way it will have to be replaced by the time you buy the parts and install them you can just replace the ice maker as a unit

My ice freezes together!

Do you mean the ice cubes are too large to be individual cubes and come out as a lump? The water is filled by a timed fill so if the fill solenoid stays open a little and drips water into the cube tray it will have more water than normal. I guess I'm not sure if you mean the ice cubes are stuck together in the tray or are they sticking together in the holding bin area?
