How do you reformat or fix a hard drive in a hp dv4 when it says replace hard drive? Or is it unfixable?

You cannot fix it, you must replace it. Purchase a new hdd, using a cloning programme, copy the hard drive to the new hdd. Remove the old hdd and fit the new one.

Replace internal hard drive

This have to be easy. Use small philips screw driver to open HDD compartment, there may be one or two other screws to remove, slide the HDD away from it's connector and take it out. If there is any cage, remove the HDD from it (4 screws at most). Replace with the new HDD and assemle in reverse order. Boot from the recovery CD and install the OS, device drivers and other software. Your old data will be on your old HDD. In case it is in good working order you can put it in USB cage and use it as external USB HDD to transfer your data back.

I have a gateway zx4800-03 and I need to know how to remove the hard drive to put in a new one

I removed one on a Gateway ZX4800-02. Remove two screws by the usb ports on the back. then remove the plastic piece covering the usb ports on the back. This will expose the HDD. Now to make it easier. remove the four screws holding the support bracket and remove support bracket. remove the three screws holding the HDD located up, right, and left. Now disconnect the HDD cable by pull it to the right by the connector. DO NOT PULL THE CABLES. My friend does that by habit all the time and it drives me crazy.

HDD should come out easy. Just remove the metal cage covering the HDD and Replace. Reverse order for reassembly.

Now does anyone know how to get off the damn front bezel!>!!?!?!?!? I can't figure it out.

I need to remove the HDD from a AR-M455N and replace fro return to leasing. I am sure there is reformatting involved when the new one is installed. Can you help with this procedure?

Be very careful here. If you are replacing this with another leased machine, get the Tech to remove the HDD from the old machine and request that you keep it. Other wise look over his shoulder as he re formats the HDD and get him to show you the empty file directory. BTW there are programs available to hackers to read so called erased files, that's why it's best to request you keep the HDD, they are cheap now anyways.

HDD is cactus, what are replacement alternatives for the OEM?

You can use any 2.5 inch ATA/IDE drive as a replacement. Notebook hdd's are a smaller size than regular desktop hdd's. You can find a good idea online at stores like tigerdirect.com or newegg.com. Hope this helps & please rate this answer fixya. Thanks.

SATA HDD problems

Is this a 2nd hdd added into the system or a new primary replacing a hdd that you removed? If it is an additional hdd you will have to enable it in system bios & then format & partition it before you will be able to use it. Hope this helps.
