SOURCE: fingernails have mangled the rubber on-off button. Replacement?

Hmmm...apparently this is a common problem. So common, all you have to do is call the Shure parts ordering line (800-516-2525 opt 3), and ask for the "rubber button" for the PGX2 (SLX2) handheld transmitter. They are 81 cents apiece, but with a $10 minimum, you will end up buying six (or more).

Dipstick mangled

Any chance you can post a picture of what is mangled ??
If it's the bottom end of the stick that goes into the engine the only way that's going to hit something is if it's the wrong dipstick and too long.

Use you fingernail to push edge of rubber under silver wrap. Then while pushing down on rubber with finger and thumb turn simultaneously. It should start to work itself back under silver wrap.

The rubber casing has gone sticky

Many cameras and binoculars are covered with a sprayed on thin layer of rubber which breaks down after about 5 to ten years. It becomes very sticky and can be scratched off with a fingernail. This leaves a messy surface which can be cleaned off with methylated spirits. Other solvents will work like isopropyl alcahol but avoid using solvents like cellulose thinners or white spirit as this can attack the underlying plastic on some cameras.

My printer lexmark x7170 do not start

Is it plugged into a power strip? If so try it directly to a plug. If that does not work, pull the brick out and let it sit for a few minutes, then firmly insert the brick back in. The power button like all the rest of the buttons are rubber caps over depression toggles. Check and see if there is anything around the power button. The silver cover plate comes off fairly easily. insert a fingernail or the like under its edge next to the red power button and slowly lift up. It should come off fairly easily. this should allow you more button surface to clean if that is the source of the problem.

first, disable power to cooktop. next, replace either the mangled burner or the entire unit (after initial inspection leads to a logical prognosis)...sorry.
