I have changed the o ring three time and I cant get it to stop leaking. Two new o rings installed....still leaks. large o ring sx200z7

Had problems with these types before also. As the filter ages it warps and thats a problem lol.
You said you cleaned the recesses Im hoping top and bottom and lubricated the recesses IN addition to the o-ring, don't hold back on that lube either. And lastly although it sounds odd, dont over-tighten the nuts, tighten them slightly over hand tight turn the pump on for a bit leaking everywher tighten everywhere, leaking in one spot, tighten only that one spot a little.
Putting on all that lube doesnt do too good when it spits it out from pressure.
Also pics next time, and good luck!

How much and what kind of sand do I use to fill my filter?

Use ONLY swimming pool sand from your professional pool supply place. Tell them what kind of filter you haved and they can tell you how much sand you require ... probably 300 lbs. Some places suggest you put 50 lbs of stone in the bottom first.

What ever you do, first check the laterals for tightness and integrity. Then put enough water into the filter body to cover the laterals in the bottom at least 3 inches deep. What this does is it protects the laterals from the falling sand.

Make sure you keep the little black hose in sight if your filter is so equipped. This hose should be let into the top cover - its purpose is to remove the air that accumulates there.

Thanks for your question @

I have the Intex Sand/Pump pool filter Model SF 20110. It's been running real great for the last 4 months. However recently it has been tripping the internal overloads and I have found the pump motor to...

I just looking into this issue my self. The pump cools itself by a internal fan, which is run by the motor. Well I took the housing cover off to find out all the fan blades have broken off and were setting in the base of the pump.

Once you remove the fan blades from covering the air intake, it might be fine. I will find out my self once summer gets here.

With filter set on "FILTER" water is escaping out backwash port contiualy lowering pool water level.

Your question was posted under "Pond and Water Garden Pumps", but I assume you are really asking about a swimming pool filter. Unscrew the control valve from the valve body and check the condition of the O-ring. If it is nicked, torn, or worn allowing water to flow past the valve, buy a replacement at your local hardware store or swimming pool supply. Pop the old one off, and put the new one in the track where the old one was. If it doesn't want to stretch to fit, put the new seal in HOT water for a few minutes and try again. Lubricating the O-ring with some Vaseline or other brand petroleum jelly will make operating the valve easier and cut down on wear of the new seal.

Will not pump when it has a filter in it

filters are too good for pump system.

These pool pumps seam to over heat fast, no quick fix.

* Try getting more air flow around pump.
* Only use pump when using pool or near by.
* Use a pool cover - will help stop dirt/rubbish getting into pool - less to filter.

Air in pool

you need to look at all intake pipes and seal ('O' ring) around pump skimmer box.

Use a bucket of water to tip over pipe work (while pumping) see if you can see where leak is.

Go to your pool shop and get some multipurpose pool lubricant used on o-rings and gaskets - put on all seals.

Pool Sand Filter

The volume of a 24x4 pool is 1809.6 cubic feet [Volume=pi x radius squared x height, or V=3.14159 x(12x12)x4], and the 18 foot pool is 1017.9 cubic feet [V=3.14159 x (9x9)x4]. When you multiply the number of cubic feet by the conversion factor of 7.48 gallons per cubic foot, you come out with 13,536 gallons versus 7614 gallons. Since the volume is nearly double, I don't think the other filter will cut it for very long. Is the top that is cracked in the valve body or the top part of the tank? It might be cheaper and easier to just replace the defective part in the long run than to use an undersized filter that will die prematurely.

Water Dispenser Problem

Hello, Sounds like you have a couple of problems. First I think that the particular filter you are working with is the WFCB and the WF1CB? Either should work without a problem. Is your water pressure low? Is it above 30psi? I would look at those issues and if that does not do it I would replace the filter. The cover issue is due to the o-ring drying out. The o-ring needs to be lubricated and this will allow the housing to unscrew much easier. Go to your locale appliance parts dealer or other outlet and ask for the right lubricant for the o-ring. Should use a sillicone grease designed for this application as this will work the best. Good Luck! Dr. Know
