Open door but no light comes on

Some vehicles have a switch that can be used to disable the interior light. The switch can be set to ON, DOOR or OFF position.
If you don't have this switch check that the bulb isn't burnt out. If bulb is OK look in the fuse panel for a burnt fuse.

No headlights

Most likely the start switch that has burnt out. The switch disables the light while starting, and switches them back one once you let the button go. At times corrosion in the switch or burnt contact will prevent the lights from coming on again. Always best to fit a load relief relay so that the start switch only operates the relay and the load from the headlight is taken up by the relay.

Honeywell Hz614 quickheat baseboard burnt switch

Yes more than likely just get a MAINS RATED switch. It MUST have it printed on it. Check passed the switch too, make sure you don't have "Other" problems, try to determine WHY the switch "Burnt Out"? In saying that though, they DO, have this happen spontaneously sometimes. Be careful.

Will not trun on . its plug in , on switch is on. i toke the motorhosing apart and notice that some of the housing was cracked. i turn the on swith on nothing, the motor will trun by hand

There are two possibilities: One is that the switch has failed, The other is that the motor windings are burnt and failed. The check for the switch would be to unplug the vacuum and remove the on of switch. With a contnuity tester, place the tester leads to each side of the switch. In the on position the switch should show a dead short ( closed circuit ). If it doesn't replace switch. If it is the motor windings that have burnt you would be able to smell an acrid burnt smell, if you do replace the motor.

I have no dash lights on my 4runner and cant find any burnt out fuses. Is it likely that the light itself is burnt out?

There are several bulbs in the dash that come on with the headlight switch so it is unlikely that they all burnt out at the same time.I would check the instrument light dimmer switch for power in and out of it before blameing dash bulbs. You should check the plug to the light switch to check for power out of it and to look for burnt wire ends.

Turned on and smoke

Is the burnt circuit on the motherboard or the power switch circuit board that plugs into the motherboard? Big difference, if the burnt circuit is on the motherboard then yes the motherboard is done and will have to be replaced, but if it's just the power switch circuit bard, then this is replaceable.

Have a hampton bay 24000 BTU AC. Smelled burnig behind control panal. Opened it up found what seems to be an overload switch burnt through.. Leads go to capacitor terminal C & Herm. I changed the...

I checked wiring on my other 17,000 BTU Hampton bay AC & noted there was no overload switch wired into capacitor. So i just removed the burnt out overload switch which was causing a ground & blowing breaker. I noted it was not wired in between the compressor circuit but just attached to the compressor terminal & common terminal on capacitor. I guess it is a sacrafise type device that saves the compressor from burning out on overload. Anyway The AC worked fine with the burnt overload switch removed. It has been runnning 2 days now with no problems. I however did replace the capacitor with a new one. You can use either an oval or round capacitor as there is ample room. Just make sure your cap. values match old one. I will probable try & purchase a new overload switch if possable & install it at a later date, for the extra protection.
