Question about Denon AVR-3200 Receiver

Denon AVR-3200 wont go into standby mode

When i press the power button, the receiver wont go into standby mode. It seems as tho the power button on the remote doesnt do anything. I also have an AVR-1804 and have tried its remote on the 3200 with no result. All other functions (i.e. volume, source changing etc etc) work just fine. Any thoughts as to what im doing wrong here?

Not sure what you mean by standby mode. The power button on most of the audio remotes I deal with merely turns the equipment on and off.

Testimonial: "Right, and thats my point. The power button on the remote does nothing. The power button on the receiver itself is the type that has 2 physical positions (i.e. it stays in when on, and physically is further out of the unit when off). So, for it to operate the button has to be in the further in position, my problem is that makes it to where you have to walk over to the unit to turn it off making the power button on the remote useless unless the unit has a standby mode. Hence my question."

Well, it has a physical button on the receiver itself that isnt the type that toggles a relay inside the unit. Im not sure what the proper name for this type of button is, but it stays in when you press it and pops back out when you press it again. Anyways, the AVR-1804 i also have is merely a toggle button and either engages standby or disengages it. The 3200 has this other type of button that kills it entirely making the remote useless until you press the button on the unit again. Im trying to figure out how to be able to turn the receiver on and off with the remote as opposed to having to press the button on the unit. Laxy, i know. but theres gotta be a way to turn it off with the remote.

SOURCE: Denon AVR older receiver but worked fine; now

Did you try to reset the unit? Resetting the unit has fixed every problem I have ever had......turn off unit.....hold down A+B at the same time then turn the unit back on...hold buttons for roughly 3 seconds....Let me know if it works.

I have a Denon avr 2801. My standby light is flashing and i cant seem to reset it. I have tried pressing the a and b buttons together and then turning the power on, all the lights flash but thats it.

There is always a constant 5v for the device to go to standby.and power on when you press the power button .
This flashing is not to reset the device it shows that there is a problem with power supply.
the regulators are burned or over voltage ...
it needs service .
hope this helps
good luck

My Denon AVR-75 seems to stay in standby (red standby light is on) and I don'd get surround sound through it. How do I get it out of standby?

if the receiver does not power on from standby there is a problem like bad power supply or even bad macroprocessor. You need to bring it to a service center for diagnosing. 10-years old receiver, maybe better to buy new one.

My AVR 391 goes on Standby and freezes there.

Seems you cannot fix this issue yourself. If the unit is still under warranty, Denon will replace a chip which has a flawed firmware. The unit cannot be updated remotely and a physical repair is necessary.

Denon AVR-1100 receiver "PROTECT" mode

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

hope this helps?
