Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Epson C82, Cartridge carrier won't move

Hi, I'm having other belt problems but it sounds like the belt has separted from the carriage. The belt is held in place by looping through a place on the back of the carriage. It is just pressed into the plastic structure so if the plastic has broken or the belt worked out, your problem would occur.

It is a bit tricky in getting the carriage released. I found it necessary to completely remove the inner workings from the casing. A few screws and plastic clips to release but not too bad.
The trick comes in when you have to release the slide bar that runs through the carriage. It is held in place by small clips on either end. Both must be removed. They appear to be fiber so don't be too rough on them. There is a white plastic mounting on both ends which allows the print head to adjust for envelopes or paper. The one on the left (while looking at the printer from the front) must be removed. Be sure and mark the position of the bracket before removing. Take the screw out and rotate the piece so that the lugs will pass through the housing. Once removed, the bar can be slid through the opening and out of the carriage. You can then ease the belt off the motor gear (on the left) and inspect the "u" shaped connection on the back of the carriage. There is an area of the belt which is noticeably thicker than the rest of the belt and this is what should be inserted in the "u". If the plastic is broken you will probably have to replace the carriage. Good luck.

I have included a link below from another site which gives you a pdf of the service manual for the C82

Make sure its properly plug in .Once your done return the move the cartridge carrier manually from left to right 5x once your done you may now close the cover .(close it first ) And checked if its going to the center once you open the cover .

Change ink

Usually, with an inkjet printer to change the cartridges, open the cover and then press the power button - or the other button, if there is one. Don't be afraid to press buttons ..

The cartridge carrier will then move from its 'parked' position to a more central, accessible position. Unclip the cartridge retaining clip and simply lift the cartridge out. Virtually all inkjet printers work on this principle.

Don't try and manually force the cartridge carrier along from its parked position otherwise you will cause damage.
