SOURCE: hi, my toahiba satellite m305d s4828 backlight

The problem might not be with the LCD inverter. There is a possibility that you have a faulty LCD screen cable. The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board.
Please check this possibility.

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite A135-S2386. Black display.

I had a similar problem and it was not the inverter nor the bezel but the little black sensor that activates when your close the lid on the right side of the laptop. That sensor was broken and made the laptop act as if the lid was closed. When I manually pulled that button up with my hand it would work. To permanently solve this issue I removed the base of the laptop and took that lid sensor out of the laptop because it was broken at the connector was lying to the contact causing the laptop to stay in hibernate or sleep mode.

If pressing the Fn and the F 3 or whichever F key for your brightness does not increase it then the invertor is possibly low emission. Replace the inverter.

Hi Guy,
Try those key during the first seconds of the start: ESC, DEL, F1, F2
Do some training before you start to get those keys hit alternatively during the first 3 seconds of start.
Let me know how it goes..

Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4830 laptop won't boot up. It sounds like it starts to (can hear fan), but the screen never comes on.

It sounds like either your display is turned off or the backlight went out. If you have a display selection button on your laptop(usually on one of the function keys), try that. If that doesn't work, try plugging it in to a monitor or other display and check if that works correctly. If it does, your screen either has a bad backlight or other physical problem.

I have a defective motherboard for a toshiba satelite 14.1 laptop model m305d-s4830 part a000023270. Where can I get a used or refurbished part under $125 u.s.. I only had this computer for three months...

I've had the same problem for almost a year now. We need to write to Toshiba to recall the motherboard on this model. I was told it's too expensive to purchase as it is almost the price of a brand new laptop.

Toshiba satellite m305D screen blanks out after powering up. Power button light is out but the audio controls lights are still on.

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first

Dim display on Toshiba Satellite 4090XDVD notebook

The backlight CCFL lamp provides the lighting for the LCD screen. If you have already adjusted the brightness to the max. setting and it is still dim, it means the CCFL lamp is is nearly worn out.
