Question about Magnavox DV220MW9 DVD Player VCR

1 Answer

Burned dvd + r disc plays on a Sony progressive scan dvd player, but has problems on a Funai dvd player

A DVD that we edited via Sony Vegas pro 8.0 was converted to an .m2t file, imported to DVD styler, play button added to basic menu. The DVD plays flawlessly on the Sony player, but drops audio and/or video and audio on the Funai/Magnavox player ...any idea? Thanks!

If its because of the way you formatted it then try using something that says dvd format and change its resolution to its proper playing method to its dvd that can play it.

SOURCE: Magnavox MPD850 dvd player won't play, only display no disc

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, over time the laser becomes weak until it can no longer read the disc, but you can buy a DVD cleaning kit that might breath more life into the player, if no! cheaper to replace the DVD player.

Why doesn't my recorded dvd-r movies play on my magnavox dvd player

Does your DVD player support that version of DVD disk? Not all players will handle DVD-R. Check the manual for compatibility.
Try recording to DVD+R then see if your player will play it.
Also, in what format (.avi, .flv, .mov, etc.) was the item recorded and is your player able to handle that format? Again, check the manual for compatibility.

When I burn a DVD (R- or R+) on a Sony RDR-GX300 it burns the DVD which plays on that unit only. If I try to play the DVD burned on Sony RDR-GX300 on any other brand or any other Sony DVD player or even on...

On That Type Of DVD Recorder,( RW,R-R+). You Will Have To Finalize The Disk. Finalizing is Necessary When Playing On Any Equipment Other Than This Recorder.Even IF Your Other DVD Equipment IS ( VR ) Format Compatible You Still Need To Finalize The Disk. After Finalizing,You Cannot Edit or Record on The Disk,Make Sure It's In Video Mode.

Need to turn OFF progressive scan on Sony DVD DVP-NS57P

With the remote: While in STOP mode, press the DISPLAY button. Use up/down buttons to select SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select CUSTOM.Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select SCREEN SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select PROGRESSIVE. Press Enter. The manual is a bit indistinct after this, but I think the prompts will direct you. Just turn Progressive OFF.

Won't playback copied dvd's, only commercially made ones.

Read here and we can see that other people have both trouble and success running back ups on this device: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/anyone-experienced-with-b-u-s-playing-on-a-sony-dvp-s7000-t283487.html So... That tells us this device is finicky IE it requires a high quality burn. DVD burners have varying levels of accuracy. To improve your burn: -SLOW the burn speed for increased accuracy -USE DVD-R only as it is the most compatible -Use those Sony's DVD-r's at wal-mart or KMART because Sony makes DVR's and everyone else buys them from generic Taiwan manufacturer and relabel I bet this will solve your problem. After you get a successful burn at 2x try 4x then 6 etc.
