The problem I have is the following: I have a powercore firewire and a powercore compact. They were sounding perfect until I bought three plug-ins: the TubeTech CL-1B, Tap Factory and Harmony 4. At...

Remove the offending plug ins and test. Then install one at a time and test. You may be running out of processing power to service all of them. Each effect requires a lot of computer resources. Look at your system idle time when you do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and click on the processes tab while running the plugins. The last item in the list is the system idle time. If this number is small, you are out of computer power and or resources.

The possibility to create a problem with the phantom power is out of te question. The phantom power power CAN NOT harm any dynamic mic. Check the connectors and try with another cable.Make all the tests at low volume settings.

Get a dbx 400x Program Route Selector or something like it. (eBay). It will allow separate independent attachment and selection via front-panel switches of three processors and three tape decks to a single Tape Monitor loop; and the processors can be placed either before or after the processors or source, again via switches. If you have more processors you can always line some of them up in-line on a single processor loop. I do it on mine.
