Question about HP LaserJet 1020 Printer
I tried to use the copier, and am getting a black line sometimes 2 down right side of copy. sometimes have one on left side also. have replaced the ink cartridge. what else can i do?
I would try a few of the following; try a fresh (clean) install of the printer on your pc; or try a firmware upgrade on the printer; or clean the toner cartridge transfer roller (it may even be scratched.)

Yes, u can just clean the drums , I means the rolls inside the printer, just open the printer door , then remove the cartridge , then u can use tissues with a little of alcohol to clean the rubber rolls inside .

If the lines only appear on copies from the auto feeder and printing is clean, then lift the auto feeder section and clean the scanner glass underneath.
If printing and copying have similar 'streaky' results you probably have a bad toner cartridge - try a replacement. If that doesn't work you have a fuser problem - which is quite a costly repair based on the replacement cost of your unit

You have dirt on the scan bar head so it produces an image on the paper.
When you print directly from the PC it does not use the scan bar
Take the glass off and clean the scan head

The easiest thing to do is put another cartridge into the machine and to see if the problem goes away. Even if you can get a empty cartridge that is still working. If the black line is still down the left side after changing the cartridge the fuserfilm in your fuserunit might have a tear in it in which case you'll have to send it to a repair centre.
