Rotisserie for Z460D doen not turn -gets stuck

There were never directions with this kit and when I tried to roast my small 20 pound turkey it was like the gears were grinding--what can I do to prevent this?

Can i roast a 27lb turkey in my 24lb roaster and how long and what temperature do i roast it at?

About 15-20 minutes per pound at 350 F Cook until the meat is 165 F. If it will fit that pane then it is ok and will not cause a problem.

It is a frozen turkey leg stuffed weight is 4 and half pound

Lisa, Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Roast covered for 1 hr., then uncover and roast 1.5 to 2 hrs until the legs are golden brown and the internal temperature is 180 degrees F (82 degrees C) when taken with a meat thermometer. Add a little water if needed while roasting, and baste occasionally with the juices or butter.

I lost my manual to my 18qt rival roasted. I am cooking a turkey but on what temp. and how long per lb.?

Do I just plug it in and roast the turkey or do I put water in the bottom of the roaster

It doesn't hurt to put a couple of cups of water in the bottom of the roaster, but turn the turkey face down for the first few hours, then turn it right side up for the last hour. All of the juices that would drain to the back stay in the breast making it much more moist. I use a stainless steel dutch oven in the regular oven then uncover and flip in the last hour, and turn on the broiler in the last 10 minutes to crisp the skin. Let it sit for an hour and then carve. Set aside at least 5 hours for a 12-14 pound turkey to preheat, prep, cook, cool, and carve. Add another hour for a turkey in the 18-22 pound range. I usually hand rub the turkey with extra virgin olive oil and dust with black pepper, ground sage, thyme, and some onion and garlic powder. Cram an orange and lemon/lime into the cavity to add some interesting flavor to the bird if you are not stuffing.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Step 2 Remove turkey from its wrapping and remove neck and giblets from inside the cavity. Set aside to make gravy later (see Related eHows).
  • Step 3 Rinse turkey inside and out with cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Step 4 Put oven rack on lowest level of oven.
  • Step 5 Place turkey, breast side up, on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  • Step 6roast1s.jpg Rub the outside of the turkey with olive oil.
  • Step 7roast2s.jpg Salt and pepper the turkey's body and cavity.
  • Step 8roast3s.jpg Roast turkey about 3 hours, or until a meat thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the thigh registers 175 to 180 degrees F.

    • In general, a turkey should be roasted 10 to 12 minutes per pound if it is not stuffed and 12 to 15 minutes per pound if it is stuffed.
    • In general, you shouldn't cover a roasting turkey (or any roasting meat); you want the skin to get a nice, deep brown all over, and you don't want it to steam in its own juices. However, if the turkey begins to brown too quickly, well before it's likely to be done, you can cover the brown parts loosely with aluminum foil. (This is likely to happen with larger birds.) Try to cover as little of the turkey as possible so you don't create steam.
