SOURCE: I recorded a video on my samsung sc-dc 164

how did you transfer the video from the card to your PC?

did you connect the camcorder to your PC or did you use a memory card reader?

if you can play the audio then what you need is the right video codec for the unit
try searching for video codecs through search engines

make sure that the software that you are using to play the video plays the file format of your video,

try using roxio, then connect the camcorder to your computer via USB, make sure that the drivers are installed, play the video through your camcorder then use roxio to capture it real time instead of the usual "copy-paste"

Recorded scenes show as question marks

They are recorded as something that the computer does not know what to do with. You should have a cd with that camera that can convert the files. It could also be that there is a problem with the recording.

How do I find the delete option on my hitachi camcorder?

Hi! The solution to your problem is Three fold.

First make sure that your Camcorder is in the Disc Navigation mode to be able delete your required scene. When the camcorder is in the play back mode the delete scene won't appear.

The second situation is to check if your scene is not locked because if it is locked you are not able to delete it.
Supposing that your scene is not locked then check what type of DVD disc you have. The discs labelled DVD Ram, DVD+RW, and the Card can be deleted. The DVD-RW can be deleted only when in VR mode and not the VF mode. Other types of discs like the DVD R can not be deleted.

Another way of deleting a scene after it has been recorded on a disc that's not deletable is to transfer the recorded scene to a computer disc and then edit it off.

How do I pause when recording?

I understand that you wish to Pause and Continue recording to record several scenes in a single file. Unfortunately, HDD Camcorders(regardless of manufacturer) do not have the option to pause and record in a single file. Once you press STOP, it will save the current file and When you press the Record again, it will start record as a new file. This is because of the characteristics of the HDD media. If you wish to have the video as a single file, please use a video editing software to combine the videos.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

Camera shows hd movie recording disableD

HD movie recording disabled: SOLVED for 2 HDRSR5's (work and home): After copying all movies to computer, "DELETE ALL" from HD view. Evidentally if you have been deleting movies using computer, the still images used for 'scene selections' remain and fill its capacity. You must be in HD view when choosing Delete All (that is, rather than just deleting all Standard movie clips)

Created a DVD from my FS100, unable to get sound when playing it on my home DVD player however have sound on Laptop using WinDVD. Do I need to change format of DVD and if so to what file type ? thanks much

It's the format of the movie clip (.mod). The files need to be converted to .mpg in order to get your sound working with WMC or other video player. Google for a .mod file converter and you'll find several out there.

What are the differences in the record modes? (HQ, SP, & LP)

The amount of recording time on a disc depends on the recording mode selected. The approximate recording time for each of these modes is listed below:

  • HQ (High Quality): Recordable time is up to 20 minutes.
  • SP (Standard Play): Recordable time is up to 30 minutes.
  • LP (Long Play): Recordable time is up to 60 minutes.

  • NOTE: If you record in LP mode, the quality of the scenes may be degraded, or scenes with quick movement may appear with a block noise when you play back the disc.

Only getting Sound no vision when playing video on the PC.

i had same problem.  just get out your cd pro with the driver and video codec on it that came with camera.  just open up the video codec only!  nothing else.  left click on codec folder.  wait for window to come up with  "continue anyway" and click once on that.  let it download.  about 10 sec.  then click on driver folder  restart and you are done.   do not use USB hub or it will cause problems and never load or remove the SD card when power is on camera or pc.  download your video files from camera with the USB cord only using  MASS STORAGE.  or you might lose and corrupt data.  if you need to burd to DVD, at highest quality no more than an hour.  or use 2 DVD's.  use a converter program like CUCUsoft to make your   .avi files a mpg2 file, but click on avi-dvd.  now you can burn and play in you dvd player on tv.   paul
