Shift lock release

There should two brake switches located above the brake petal, one is designed to activate the rear brake lamp relay, the second would be the park/neutral safety switch which may be defective and failing to activate the shift handle release relay. You can test this by first turn the ignition key forward then jump the two wires behind the switch, you should then hear the transmission shift handle lock release. If this is heard, the switch has failed and requires replacement.

The battery on my laptop will not come out. The release tab is stuck and no matter what I try it will not budge. Any suggestions?

Run the computer on battery until the battery is dead. Spray the battery bay and release tab with a _LIGHT_ coat of WD-40 and try again. A small screwdriver may help to pry the release out of the way. Too much pressure can break the release. If the battery is working well, you could just live with it in place until replacement time.
