That's the first thing a hacker will disable. All of my 7 Dells will not restore. I have to re-install Vista to fix the problem.

It sounds like your restore might be corrupt. You could contact Dell and purchase your restore software for that pc for around $30.00

Since it is Desktop PC and if you have active warranty then Dell Tech Support can check and maybe send a Technician out to fix it. That would be better to avoid any other onto ward issues.

Dell 660 dial up phone line

Sounds like you are stuck with dial-up in your location. I was also for a long time.
If you can get at least a DSL connection at 600kb , that would be a lot better.

call dell and get the factory program discs as well as factory restore discs...They'll make you happy!!
