Thermostat sticking titan n180

The thermostat is there to protect the water heater. I don't think it can overheat and make the breaker trip. If you tried to reset the unit and it's still not working, you should send your Titan N180 back to the manufacturer to be repaired. The 10 year warranty if against leaks. You have 1 warranty in your Titan components.

Unit is not dead but hot water comes on sometimes and at other times not. My plummer has cleared the screen and behind and there is nothing that should be causing this.

You must check to see if your thermostats are tripping, in most cases the heater overheats if you slow down the flow of the water when mixing at your valves, in tankless the lower the flow the higher the temperature. Also check your bullet inside the inlet pipe this can also cause this problem.

Also check your electrical connections inside the unit there can have a loose wire somewhere causing a false contact.

I have a brand new Titan N-120 that melted the first 8' of the inlet pipe until it blew apart at a fitting. Is this a flow detector switch problem?

No. It is a limit switch malfunction and a temperature and pressure relief valve problem. The safety valve should have opened before any melting occurred. You do have a TP&R valve, right? Depending on how new the unit is, you should contact the manufacturer for a new heater; dont take a chance.

The flow is more than it used to be when the Rinnai was working fine with two faucets flowing probably triple the advertised flow rate now. It still cycles hot and cold every few minutes. Is build-up a...

when your tankless starts cycling hot and cold water, then there is probably scale buildup inside the unit.
flushing the unit will remove the scale and any other debris inside the unit.
you can do this yourself, do you have the instruction book that came with the tankless heater?
it is recommended to flush the unit once a year especially if you have hard water.
it takes an hour or maybe a little longer to flush the unit completely.

Your check-valve has most likely failed at the switch.
The flow check valve works by opening when you turn the water tap. When it opens it closes a switch which turns on your heating elements. When this switch fails you will still have water flow, but no heat. Titan has parts for this but you will need to call their service Dept.

The Titan 120 will not turn off. Is it the thermostat?

It sounds like maybe there is a build up of sediment. You can clean that out. Contact Titan tech support like at 888-Titan-80 or email then at Titantech@engnieer.com

Titan tankless hot water heater will not go off standby.

There are FAQ's at the following location:

http://www.titantanklessheater.com/page/1227557

Could be a few things. Most common are reversing the water flow (putting your cold water input into the units hot output instead of the other way around) or not bleeding the air out of the unit (running water for a minute with the unit off) before using it. Could be a bad flow detector switch or an internal malfunction as well. If you review the link above and my tips and don't find anything then contacting the company is probably your best option.
