Microwave won't turn on and beeps flashing numbers

Hello, We just bought a house that had a brand new microwave installed in it. It is flashing numbers 1,2 and 3 over a period of time and won't work. At some point it will work when I hit the start button, which is completely random. The key pad won't work up until that random time. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Some newer microwave models will not function UNTIL you set the CLOCK Function ... ok
There should be instructions in your microwave MANUAL to tell you how to do this; as it can vary widely between different brands and models.

SOURCE: LG LMVM2055SB over the range microwave keys not working

Is it possible someone may have sprayed cleaner directly onto the keypad area?

This causes moisture to get into the keypad and sometimes onto the control board.

This could mean that they control panel frame with keypad (membrane switch) would need to be replaced.

Can you give more details on the cleaning?

You have a failed membrane keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Yes! it is a real possibility, or the inverter board is defective. Since it is brand new, have the person who you bought it from take it back to the place of purchase because he is the original buyer and the one with the warranty.

You didn't mention your brand or model number, so I can only give you a general response.

It sounds like a shorting membrane keypad.

On Samsung's, they will show the error code "SE".

For detailed do it yourself info and/or an estimate, please post a new FixYa help request and include the model, or contact me here with that info.

Have a new Emerson MW9710W microwave. Had it

My daughter is having the same problem as you are having. Thing is we bought it for her new. She had not used it at all for a year. They finally bought a house, started using it in May. It is now doing the exact things yours is doing. Is there some kind of recall notice on these microwaves or what is wrong and how do we fix it?

Microwave problem or electricity circuit problem?

It sounds like there is too much running off that one power line in the house... its starving for power which will take from where it can such as UPS fridge or freezer - other than that it could be a faulty junction box or wiring so you would probably want to see an electrician about it before there is a fire... If too much power is sucked from one wire it may get very hot!

Sanyo EM S8597V 34 litre, 1000 Watts microwave

I would think you can get warranty service even without the receipt.

Dealers may insist on that, but manufacturers will usually honor their warranty if you give them a valid serial number, and some may require you to sign an affidavit that you bought it at an appropriate date.

I would contact Sanyo support via here.

Oster Microwave/Convection/Grill

Try the unit out on some differnet outlets. Microwave ovens pretty well max out the typ. house circuit and going to one that is better wired or less loaded may make the difference
