Question about Metrologic Instruments MS9540 Voyager Hands Free

Open Question

Voyager MS9540 drops the 1st digit of a UPC-A barcode if it's a zero only.

It scans all numbers 1-9, but if that leading number is a 0 it will be dropped. I have read the Configuration Guide on Honeywell and tired scanning the fix for "Transmit UPC-A Number System", but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hi. I'm not sure if this will help you, but I found this website:

UPC Database Item Lookup

According to this website:

"Enter the all digits printed on the UPC bar code, including any numbers to the right or left of the bar code itself, even if they don't line up with the main row of numbers. This should be 13 digits for an EAN/UCC-13, 12 digits for a Type A UPC code, or 8 digits for a Type-E (zero-supressed) UPC code. Anything other than 8 or 12 digits is not a UPC code! (And just because it's 8 or 12 digits doesn't mean it is a UPC.) You must enter every digit here.
If you have a barcode scanner that outputs plain numbers, you should be able to use it to enter the UPC number here."

So, apparently you need more digits to complete the bar code #. But if you have the full barcode, you should be able to enter it on the website linked above, and find the image of the frames that you are looking for. I hope this helped. Thanks!

Go to www.honeywellaidc.com and click on English under North America. In the search bar type in 9540. You should only get one result for Voyager 95X0 Series of Single-Line Laser Scanners. Click on the heading and under the picture on the tab bar choose documents. Under user Guides choose MetroSelect Single-Line Scanner Configuration Guide. On page 14 you will find the barcode to scan "Enable Code 93" . Page 14 is also labeled as 2-6. Good Luck

My scanner reads only12 numbers not 13 numbers from barcode what h do?

Perhaps you should ask for replacements and ask for a bar code scanner who reads 13 numbers because even how many times you try it over and over again if the function of the scanner is limited in reading 12 number the results will be the same..Hope it can Help you.

We need to convert UPC-A barcode number to EAN-13

Most scanners will convert UPCA to EAN13 as you scan if you have that setting checked. A 0 will be added in front of the UPCA to make it an EAN13. Nothing else changes. You can read about this stuff on Wikipedia.

Ean 13 problem

you are probably reading to a inteligent software package like Excell, which sees the inputted data as a number (so ignores leading zeros) you need to specify to the sytem that the incoming numbers are TEXT not numbers.
