I have a petrol golf cart wont start

Brian, If engine is of overhead valve type and engine turns over with plug out and will not crank when plug in or turns very slow, the problem is probable valve adjustment required or decompression release faulty on cam shaft. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Motor will not turn when sparkplug is installed

I had this problem and it was due to needing a valve adjustment. There is some good youtube videos on how to adjust them not real hard to do.

I have a z force s cub cadet. The battery is good. Tested and passed. the engine/started must work hard to turn over, but still won't catch. I will jump the tractor and it will start and run.

You may want to try to find a battery with a stronger amperage rating. Even if the battery passes if it is borderline for starting it new it may not be strong enough even if it's still okay for it's battery type.

Other causes:
A worn starter can cause this issue. If a few of the coils shorted the starter will work but require much more current to do the job

A bad relay/solenoid to the starter that doesn't allow enough current to go through can cause this.

Valves out of adjustment... especially on some Briggs and Stratton engines, it's a known issue that if the valves need adjustment the motor can require a lot of energy to turn over and can cause constant hard starts.

Valve lash 5.9 360

The 360 gas motor uses Hydraulic lifters and no valve adjustment . If you're running a hydraulic valvetrain it's not really lash, it's preload. You adjust it on the back of the lobe when the valve is fully closed. There are charts out there that tell you what the correct adjustment order is, but the way I have been doing it is: Turn the motor to #1 tdc and adjust both valves on #1 Then hand turn the crank 90* or until you reach the next slot in the harmonic balancer- adjust both valves on #8 and so on. The slots indicate tdc firingfor each cylinder. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

Motor turns when spark plug is out, starter works, gas good, but has plenty of spark, when plug is added it stalls. Why?

If by 'stalls' you mean it wont turn over with the spark plug in, it is common in B&S engines for the valves to go out of adjustment. When this happens it can make it very hard for the engine to turn over and can make it hard for it to crank without assistance. A valve adjustment may fix this. it may also be a weak battery that isn't strong enough, or a bad solenoid that isn't letting enough juice through, or weak connections/bad battery wires.

2001buell blast valve adjustment

The Blast has hydraulic valves that do not need adjustments, the motor is naturally noisy, and will sound like a blender full of rocks. Without hearing your bike in person it is hard to say for sure, but it is probably normal.

Noise in motor

If there are no adjusting nuts , means there are shims, You will need to measure all clearances, and mark on a note pad, then remove cams, and remove cam buckets on the ones out of adjustment.
Pushing on each valve stem is a small round disc, it will have a number etched on it indicating thickness, get some more shims the sizes required to bring the clearances back in tollerence, usually only one or two sizes thicker or thinner, and put back together.
Turn motor over by hand, and check you have the right clearances
Do not mix up buckets, carefully take note of valve timing before dissassembly, lots of notes, white out pen marks on the cams, perhaps a photo or two.

Valves clearances normally tighten up, so it may be cam chain noise, even if it appears there is still some tension left

02 intrepid ticking

Most dodge motors have adjusters on the rockers for taking up slack in the valve-train. when these get worn or plugged by dirt they turn the valves from soft hydraulic to hard ticking due to a space between the lifter and the valve. If this is an overhead cam with roller lifters then these have become worn or fouled.
