How are your fluid levels? fan speed goes up because of the spike in temp you have,, you are supposed to change your antifreeze yearly.. I suggest having your Jeep serviced by a qualified shop.

How do i test coolant temp sensor

This is normally the fan relay which is fried. It can be that the fan is pulling too much current , which causes the relay to fry. It is a good thing to change both fan and relay.
If the sensor is faulty, then you won t see coolant temperature on the instrument panel.

Those motors run HOT. if your not losing any coolant and your system has a fairly recent i.e. in the last two years been flushed I wouldnt worry about it.

2002 jeep gr. cherokee laredo overheats only when sitting at an idle, temp comes back down when heater and fan are turned on full blast as long as jeep is moving

you electric fan probably isnt working with vehicle warmed up lift hood and watch temperature gauge when it starts to over heat check to see that fan is working if not it could be the fan relay or fan itself if the fan does turn on its most likley the thermostat

I have 2003 grand cherokee with 140000 miles that overheats at idle. as soon as i start moving again, the temp goes back to normal.

You have two fan's on your truck, 1 is a fan clutch runs with the drive belt, 2 elec fan motor, with test light and engine running at normal temp, just a little bit above 1/2 way on your temp gauge check voltage at elec. cooling fan harness if you have voltage at one of the two wire's and fan don't turn on, bad cooling fan motor, on the fan clutch after you check voltage at elec. fan motor turn engine off, with your hand spin drive belt fan if it spin's freely bad fan clutch, replace it.Also check cooling level.Hope this was very helpful

Temp increases on idle and aircon fails

Does the electric fan come on and stay on when it's hot? Find what's clicking it could be the relay for either a/c or fan. (though they usually are on the passenger side in the power distribution center near the battery. Your system works pretty much like this: the temperature sender on the engine sends info to the computer which sends a message to the relay to turn the fan on. The a/c bypasses this to some extent and turns the fan on every time the compressor is running.
Your radiator must be really clean or it would be blowing coolant all over the place a bit over 210, unless the gauge is reading incorrectly.

No/low oil pressure, high engine temp

I think you have a bad ground on your engine gages...but, more importantly, have your oil pressure checked by a mechanic.  If it is indeed only 20 pounds the engine is sadly on it's last legs.
When you receive advice from this website you have to understand that without the item in front of us, we are only able to provide "a best guess" as to what the problem might be based on you description of the defect.  If you haven't described a clear and precise description of the defect you decrease the chances of an accurate reply.  Thank you.

Temp gauge goes to full hot while at Idle

Check the auxiliary cooling fan for operation. As the engine temp rises, it should kick on to bring the temp down. U may have a bad motor on the fan, or more likely a bad fan switch.

99 cherokee laredo over heating

You can test the system by disconnecting the engine temp sensor that turns on the fan, the engine computer will go into failure mode and turn on the cooling fan, if the fan does not run check for voltage at the fan with a 12 volt test lite..
