Question about Epson Stylus Pro 9600 InkJet Printer
I have a 3 yr old Espon 9600...has been printing fine....ran two prints perfectly. Next day everything printed with a purple cast. Did nozzle check and found no yellow was printing at all! Right before this I had put in a full new yellow cartridge...printed a few good prints then nothing. Did numerous cleanings and nozzle check along with 1 power clean. Still nothing! Of course Epson wants $1500 to just look! One tech said it may be a bad cartridge...any ideas?
It's NOT a cartridge if this works... I had a similar problem with a 9600 I bought on eBay that had been inoperable over 18 months. Three colors would NOT clear up after multiple power cleanings. Epson support politely solved the issue at no charge on the phone... he had me drop a few drops of warm water on the pad the printhead rests on when not printing. You have to move the printhead to the left to do that by moving up the little lever near the cutter. The pad is easier to reach with a long eye dropper. I used very warm water- not boiling. I replaced the printhead over the warm water pad for an hour. Then I repeated the process and let it be for another 60 minutes. Then I did a nozzle check and what was gummed up yellow, cyan, and magenta nozzles became clear and it's worked fine since. Good luck!

I was away from my Epson 9600 stylus pro printer for a few weeks and when I came back I did a nozzle check and the printout was only printing all of black some of yellow and nearly all of light black. after K2 clean it remained the same. this head is 4 months old and the damper kit is also new. I soaked the damper in purified water and left it for a few days. when I tried again I got the same black results. this time the only other coler was the yellow nozzle and it was orange. any suge

We have the same problem a couple months ago. After changing the button battery on the back of the printer, everything were back to normal.
