How difficult would this be to replace? (flyback transformer)

Not very hard but you MUST discharge the stored voltage or be electrocuted.
This charge will be there, even when unplugged.. take a medium sized test lead, ground one end to the chassis, and connect the other end to a probe, like screwdriver, and WITH FINGERS BACK, push the probe under the flyback connection on the tube. Listen for large spark, then you are good to go.

LOOKS LIKE HIGHVOLTAGE WAS JUMPING ACROSS A COLD SOLDER JOINT IN THE FLYBACK VICINITY...RESOLDERED LEG AND THE TV ATTEMPS LIKE 3 TIMES TO POWER UP TO NO AVAIL?HELP!

sometimes when shorts or sparks occur in the viciity of the flyback. compnents take a hit. if i had this set in my shop i would first check what is called the horizontal output transistor. this transistor is directly related to flyback and i would suspect it to be shorted. certain capacitors and diodes also can short under the same situation. And theres a possiblility that the flyback is bad

The bottom half on the RCA D52W19 has been removed and the Flyback on the Back right corner emits a noticable spark when attempting to turn the television on. Is this a flyback problem? Or is this a sign...

this is the flyback. it is not uncommon for this part to be bad and spark. Now it is common if this part is bad then the horizontal output transistor is shorted. this part is located directly in front of the flyback on a large heatsink.

Burn spot and sparks

is it a off white block with a pink wire set going to the 3 picture tubes?then it is the high voltage called a flyback transformer.
the output is 28000 volts.you have to discharge the tubes before replacing the anode caps which are connected to the flyback.
this is a severe shock danger.
do not attempt this without the service manual ,about 35 dollars from rca.

Power supply sparks when tv is turned on

That can either be the Flyback or the HV splitter. The flyback is located on the lower left hand side when looking in the rear and has a large red cable coming out of its top. The HV splitter is located in the front in the center of the set. These are both very easy and inexspensive to replace. I can post a link where you can get replacements with instructions. If you would like.

Sounds like the flyback is arching. i would suggest looking the flyback over for signs of arching. You may need to replace the flyback. If you need to know where to get a replacement let me know and I will post a link along with the correct part to order.
