According to the GE repairman who visited, the solution is to close the machine (with the lights flashing). The machine starts and goes through the cycles, which it does rapidly and then all the lights turn off and the machine becomes silent after 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. Then the machine has been reset to normal. During this reseting period nothing happens inside the machine, although you may hear a running sound.

Thus, the solution is to run the machine in this flashing light state for the 1-2 minutes it takes to go raipdly through each cycle and then reset.

I hope this helps.

Well, how do you get it to start so it can run the 2-1/2 min. I have held down the rest button and it also refuses to reset. I flipped the breaker and all the lights went out EXCEPT Normal Wash and Heated Dry which are now flashing, The beeping is driving me nuts. I HATE this machine and it is only 1 yr old!!!!!

  • ramdot8891 Dec 08, 2010

on the quiet power 3 if the lights are flashing ,it has to reset itself--open the door and the closed it until it clicks the first time-do not jam the door close, just gently close it-after it clicks closed push the start button once and it will go on for a minute or two and then when you see the lights go out the machine has reset itself--then select the wash you need and push the start button one time and it will work with no problems. this has worked for me. good luck

  • lianacorey Apr 07, 2011

    Wow, thank you, it worked!

  • chris rhoads Jan 09, 2014

I tried that, and it just goes back through its reset cycle. Initially I had 2 blinking lights, then I did the rest and the lights quit blinking after I hit the wash I wanted, then clicked start and I heard it hum again like it did when it first went through the reset cycle. Any other ideas??

If you can use the internet; then search for GE appliances and look up the manual using the model number. I did; the the two options are to turn off the power and restart it. Their real solution was that someone may have lock the appliance by pushing and holding down on the dry botton for three seconds. If all or some of the lights are on, you can touch the dry botton for three seconds and the controls will unlock. It worked for me. I thought my unit was not balanced or the controls were broken/stuck, but it was only locked.

Ok guys, I just had this gigantic piece of **** malfunction on me, exhibiting the same behavior as described - buttons doing nothing.

I looked online and apparently you have to hold the "time delay" button, and the "light wash" button at the SAME time for THREE seconds. You really have to push those suckers in hard, thanks to GE's awesome design on this panel.

After I did that I slammed my fists against the panel pretty hard about 8 times in a fit of rage. Magically the damn thing beeped and I was able to configure my wash (Pots and pans, heated dry, blah).

Whew! Sadly I rent my house, so I stuck with this abomination.

You are a life saver. I had the same problem with the blinking lights, so I pressed the light wash and delay buttons at the same time and the machine reset itself. Now it seems to be working perfectly again. Thank you for your research!

This is the only solution that worked. Hold noraml wash and delay hours till the lights blink. Open and close door. Push start. Viola!

I tried the same solution as DYONS above (solution #1)... which is to leave the machine cycle for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. It did (will) reset itself. Thanks DYONS for your post. My problem was resolved.

This appliance is a total piece of sh*t. We have tried everything listed above and nothing. I made the mistake of opening the dw mid-cycle to remove something I needed and couldn't wait for, the latch will not make contact to resume the cycle even though the Pots & Pans and the Hot Dry buttons remain lit. It beeps every 10 seconds or so. We had to turn of the breaker switch to get it to stop beeping. Turning the switch back on does not reset this piece of ****.

I took apart the white piece to the back of the door, took apart the connections to the display and put them back together, put the white piece back on and it worked, hitting the door was not the answer because one of the clips broke so i just used electrical tape to secure it but it seems to be working fine now

I tried everything listed above: turning the breakers off, holding the buttons down, opening and shutting, everything.

In my frustration I banged my fist on the top of the door while it was open and then shut it. Magically it started cycling.

When in doubt... violence.

SOURCE: GE Dishwasher Quiet Power III Dishwasher leaking

The average life of dishwashers is 7-10 ten years so it might just be dying but try this. If the leak is a small one that seems to always be near the left side of the dishwasher put a cup of white vinager in the upper rack and run the unit on pots & pans or heavy duty. This is caused by a build up of detergent that make the unit oversuds, when the suds turn back into water it leaks out the left front corner. The amount of water is not huge, one towel to clean up. If the leak is larger it could be the pump is leaking and you can order a new one with your model # from marcone.com

Set my dishwasher on the wrong program pressed the start button then change mind it was on the wrong setting switch of changed setting now will not start

Try throw the breaker off for 15 min then back on. That may clear the program. If not restart it on the "wrong" cycle and let it finish out.

My dishwasher does not work it will let me change program settings but start/pause button does not start the cycle anything

Does it have a reset button? When powered, try holding this till it beeps a few times which usually resets the dishwasher.

If not, try powering down for a few hours, come back and restart again. You may find the fault has gone unless something needs attention

I'm not sure if you mean it is buzzing because of a fault or if it buzzes to say the program has ended and you want to switch this off??? if it is the later the following should help

Open the dishwasher door far 1. enough to expose the control panel.

2. Press the On/Off button.

4. Press the - or + button to step through the available option settings.

My dishwasher will not start. I can chose my settings close the door and press start but it will not start.

You have a bad control panel. Here is your part#99003139
  1. Unplug your dishwasher
  2. Unscrew the the screws that run along side the inner door *don't let door drop*
  3. Unplug the ribbon cable and replace the control panel
This would only take 20min to change. Have a great day!

I have the same problem. If I turn the circuit breaker off (for 30 seconds) then turn it back on, the lights will light up, but the controls don't work. After several minutes, the lights go out again.
