SOURCE: Coleman Powermate 6250 only runs with choke closed/air restricted

A call to Elliott Small Engine solved my problem - Oil Guard. I had checked the oil and it was just a little low but seemed well within the normal range. I was told to add more, bringing it just over the Full mark. It seems that the low oil protection system is very sensitive and shuts down the engine even when the oil is withing 1/8" of the mark. I added about 2-3 oz of oil and no more problems

SOURCE: Lombardini diesel generator starts and runs fine but no elecpower

remove the covering panel and expose the internals , check for loose/disscontected push on ( lucar ) connectors , if these are fine it is most likely the excitation capacitor is deffective , replace with exactly the same value/voltage rating/duty cycle . the capacitor is usual 1 or up to 3 cylindrical tubes with 2 wires comming from them , always take a note of exactly what wires you have taken off :) hope this helps

SOURCE: troy bilt 5550 generator no start please help

fuel, fire, mechanical. Miss one and she won;t run. Are you sure the gas was good? Not some old can laying around that may have turned or become water contaminated? If it was fresh gas, then take off the air cleaner and spray a little wd-40, or ether, or brake cleaner whatever is flammable into the carb throat. Just a 1 second shot is all it should need. Try and start with that. If it starts and then dies quickly, still a fuel problem. maybe a gasket is damaged, or the jet is clogged. When you said you checked for fire, you acutally took the plug out and had it grounded while spinning the motor and saw spark? If you saw a hot spark then you have eliminated fire. Mechanical not likely if it was running well a short time before. If a valve was damaged, it would still run but not too well. My gut feeling is it is related to fuel.

Polaris 600 cuts out at hi rpm

Check your Air Filter, clean it out, check for obvious blockages. Change the filter if it looks well used (look for excessive dust or color change on the inner part of the filter) or obvious wear.
Check for other blockages around the air filter inlet.

Check the spark plug, just change it for a new one so that eliminates that possibly.

Check your fuel filter and replace if needed.
Check the fuel tank for corrosion or dirt in the fuel. Empty it out, Clean it and add new fuel, be sure you have the correct fuel.
Check your Air / Fuel mix adjustment screws on the carburetor.

Hope that helps a bit
Good Luck

I have a portable generator that did all the fuel clean out and sprk plug change stuff, and it finally started but wouldnt remain running. I had the air filter off and by accident, with a rag in my hand,...

No The rag is just letting you know that your carburetor is starved for fuel. It may need adjustments on the carburetor if you can get to the adjustment screw, check your fuel filter and the gaskets it may be sucking in too much air and not enough fuel.

Is there a spark? If yes, then the fuel supply is blocked, either in the tank, hose, or carburetor. Enough fuel gets by to run a small load, but a bigger load starves it of fuel. The empty carb bowl makes it hard to start until enough fuel gets into the bowl. Clean the whole fuel system and all should be well. Try turning in all the carb adjustment screws then backing them off to their original positions, that may unclog something before you have to tear the thing down.

If plug is fouled, that would explain running rought and some smoking. But for something to happen all of a sudden, I would suspect bad fuel, which can cause fouled plugs.

My yamaha yz 125 is dumping to much fuel and fouling out the plugs but i need to knoew how to adjust my carb its a 1997

There are only two adjustments to make on your carburetor; the idle speed, and the idle mixture adjustment. If the spark plug fouls frequently, first make sure you are using the correct spark plug. Your 1997 YZ125 uses an NGKB9EGV. Then be sure you are using the recommended two stroke oil, mixed to the proper ratio, in the fuel. Also make sure the air filter is not excessively soiled.
With all of the above confirmed and corrected, start the bike and run until the engine is up to normal temperature. Adjust the idle mixture screw to attain the fastest idle and best throttle response. Then adjust the idle speed.
If you are still fouling the spark plug, verify that the carburetor has the correct size jets by consulting your owner's manual. Keep in mind that if you are operating your bike at an altitude higher than about 6,000 feet above sea level, the stock jetting may be too rich. Down-size the main jet in small increments until satisfactory operation and the correct spark plug color is obtained.

Stihl weed eater runs 2min. then stop

Stihl weedeater was running and stopped suddenly. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaner air filter with soap and water. Checked spark plug and it appeared fine. Started the weedeater, ran for a second or so and stopped. Spark plug wasn't gas fouled. Could it be the carburetor needing new diaphram gasket and spring.
