Phone will still boot without a SIM card usually just comes up and says that you need a SIM card to operate the phone but it will still boot/charge without it. Could be bad battery most HTC phones will not boot without a operational battery. Pull the battery and plug it into a charger if the Charging light goes on for like 3-5 sec. then off most likely battery is faulty if no light at all, could be a bunch of different reasons.

switch off your mobile and keep away your sim, insert another working sim in the mobile and turn-on your mobile... if this sim is working, then turn off your mobile and re-insert your old sim. now it will work.
in case mobile is not working with new sim, you have to replace the "signal chip" of your mobile.
Best of Luck!

SOURCE: htc freestyle invalid sim

I think your phone is locked to a particular network. so to use other simcards
you to unlock your phone. for that you need the network unlockcode of your HTC

From my personal experience i would recommend
i unlocked my HTC with their help. i placed the order and i got my unlockcode along with the unlocking instructions to my mail address. the code worked fine and now i am using my HTC with my favourite network provider

now they are running a promotional can use the promo code i given below to avail 10% discount on every order

PROMO CODE: mto-agc

i had same problem and have eventually solved it!!! Insert sim card into bottom slot with the gold face up. Make setting on phone got sim card 2 (not 1) You do this under UART setup (that's in the settings menu on the opening screen) and also under the profile menu highlight Only SIM2 open.
This did it for me and now can make calls with "call 2" option.

hi Bilkow..

In attempting to remove the SIM card without removal of the battery you could have potentially broken an electrical link in the main circuitary or caused a fault within the battery compartment.

i would suggest checking out the Motorolla website to see if there are any FAQ's or solutions for you there. if the problem persists, i would contact your Mobile carrier for assisstance.

hope this helps
