Did you check what the freezer temperature is? Should be at least 5 degrees or less. If the freezer temp is on the high side, the refrigerator temps will be high also. If temps in freezer are low, check to make sure that there is nothing obstructing the flow of cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Also check refrigerator door gaskets for leakage of cold air.

Evaporator is frozen with a block of ice preventing airflow into bottom of refrigerator. If you turn off the unit and allow it to completely defrost (all ice in freezer melted) unit will work again until the ice builds up again in few days or week..

The defrost circuit on unit is not working. Check the defrost timer, defrost heater, or defrost thermostat. One of these is responsible for the problem.

If you have replaced all of the parts mentioned and you are still not getting adequate cooling then you may be low on refrigerant due to small leak that has developed over the years. Confirm by taking temperature readings in freezer and refrigerator compartments. after a normal cycle. Freezer shld be at zero or close to it and the fridge should be around 39 degrees. If you do not have guages or want to throw in a shrader valve to measure the charge you can always turn the witch off and turn her back on in the morning. Then let it run for at least an hour in a room at ambient temperature. The suction line to the compressor should be cold to the touch and might even have small beads of sweat on it. If it is warm to the touch you are low on gas..

Sanyo 4.9cu.ft. compact refrigerator heats rather than cools

I'd already picked up a replacement (B&D 2.7cf) before I found the website and asked the question,,,, hoped for a quick fix answer and I'd be able to return the B&D.... oh well. With 'designed' obsolescence and 'disposable' appliances, Robert L's answer confirmed my 'fears'.
Now I'm trying to find someone locally (Conroe, TX) who would like to 'recycle' the Sanyo (everything but the compressor/motor is in great shape - door, glass shelves, etc. maybe even the coolant which I don't want to 'dump' in a landfill.

Not cooling....

Sounds like you checked for the proper items, fans to move cold air, etc. and if stuck in defrost mode. If the compressor is running you would have to be cooling unless... the refrigerant has leaked out. And that is basically a bad thing. If in defrost cycle the compressor would stop while defrosting soooo it's looking like the refrigerant is gone. Can you take the back interior panel off to see if the coils have a full frost pattern?
