Do you have power to the unit? check with a multimeter to see if you have power to the board. If you do then flex the board to see if the radio recieve comes on.If it does then take it to a tech to have him trace it down as to what it is.

SOURCE: Cobra 29GTL Won't Transmit

if the red ant light comes on this means that you have antenna trouble either in the antenna itself or the coax but this should not have anything to do with the radio not transmitting. it sounds to me that you have a bad audio chip or a bad power output transistor. in either case you should really take it to a cb shop and let the professionals solve your problem, good luck!!

Cobra 29gtl.no tx no rx on am

only has AM but could be a number of things.First, turn radio on,make sure its on CB not PA,turn squelch all the way to the left and RF gain all the way to the right. You should at least hear something by now. If not look on the front of radio and see if any lights are lit.If the tx light and the awi light are lit its because you have a bad match on your radio.Make sure your antenna is grounded so your signal can be picked up. take a piece of wire and touch the antenna bracket and a ground at the same time. You should hear something. this is as far as you can go without more knowledge of the radio.

I have a 99 mustang cobra and changing the clutch. I am stuck on taking the bolts out of the bellhousing. How many is there and what is the best way to get them out?

there is six bolts holding the trans. the best way to get the the bolts out is to go ahead remove the drive shaft and than the cross member to the trans. you will have to remove the starter because it is attached to the trans with two 5/16 bolts or 1/2 socket. let the trans hang down so you can see all the bellhousing bolts. remove them but be sure you have a jack under the trans. this is about the easiest way make sure you let the trans hang.

Cobra 29 is one channel off, ch 7 is on ch 6 and so on

The radio needs to be tuned.  This should only be done by a licensed repair shop.  You will spend less money taking it to a shop than you will buying testing and tuning equipment needed to do it yourself, which would void the warranty.

Cobra 29

Hi,

To my knowledge and depending on what board your Cobra 29GTL used, R46 is 47ohms dropping resistor after the switched 12V. Its output is then filtered by C20, 100uF/16V. While it is true that a shorted C20 would burnout R46, the issue is most likely a shorted FET2 (P/N 2SK104H). Should FET2 proved to be shorted, then it is very possible also that inductor/coil near FET2 is defective (LT-A108?).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
