Question about Cuisinart DGB-600 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

DGB-600 Will no longer grind coffee

System has worked fine for last 6 months. suddenly this morning it stopped grinding. It will however brew fine. It is not a jamming or bearing issue, it simply does not attempt to grind.

I have the same problem...the coffee maker acts like it is going to grind but it doesn't actually grind. Help!!!

  • Anonymous Jun 27, 2008

was working fine and today it just stopped grinding. will brew coffee but won't grind.

I cleaned the entire unit. checked to see if there were any obstructions. attempted to turn the grinding wheel and it wouldn't move on the motor side but the coffee bean basket was fine. tried to "grind" without any coffee and nothing happened. No sounds of the motor even trying to engage.

I don't see a "fix" or any suggestions. Anyone know what the next best step to take is?

try cleaning the grind chute again. if problem persists:
this is a cronic problem with the DGB900BC even after cleaning. the problem is the gate or trap to the grounds needs to open/remain open during grinding or all backs up and jams. my unit opens the door (correctly) during the rotation but closes just before grinding (over-rotation?). Cuisinart is not aware of this problem (800-726-0190). please call them; i just have.

DGB-900 Grind and Brew grinder

One idea to try. I noticed with my grind & brew that the moisture never evaporated from the inside top of the machine. Since that cannot be good over a long term, I have started leaving the top open during the day after I clean the machine in the morning. Your problem is why I started doing that. Why don't you try leaving the top open for a couple of days and see if drying the machine out doesn't cause some of that gunk to dry out?

Coffee grinder on brew and grind won't work

Make sure the slot between the grind basket and filter basket is clean and free of grounds - then inspect the area near the grinder motor - use the brush that came supplied with the Cuisinart to clean that area out. Once thoroughly cleaned, try one more time to Grind. Let me know if it works.

Grind and Brew thermal (model CUI DGB 600BC)coffee filter cup hard to open, now won't close. Cup where beans are added, bean cup difficult to open as well. Need to find repair place near zip code 95127.

That problem is endemic to this grind and brew only - find out if you are still in warranty - try and get a DGB-550BK as a replacement - the 600 is the only one with this problem. Replacing it with the same model will likely lead to the same result.
Here is the basic troubleshooting for the Cuisinart coffee makers:
Make sure all baskets are in proper place – especially if unit is beeping.
Do not use a paper and a gold-tone or other permanent filter at the same time.
Unplug for LONGER THAN 15 full minutes to reset.
Clean by brewing 2 oz of distilled white vinegar/2 oz water.
If these methods fail, the unit probably requires replacement – call Cuisinart as they have a longer-than-standard warranty.

I cannot remove the grinder from my cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker. It still makes great coffee, but I want to clean the grinding mechasim and cannot remove it.

Common with the DGB-600 - you can try icing it down for 10 minutes - once removed, clean exterior with vinegar applied to a rag to get oils off - endemic to this unit - replacing it with exact same model will not help.

Does not brew a full pot anymore.

I had the exact same problem with my machine making 1 cup at a time.

Here is the solution:

1. make solution of 1 part vinegar & 2 parts water.

2. pour solution into resivoir and set for 2 hours

3. run solution through machine (yes, you will have to stand there and keep pushing the buttons).

4. take same solution (now very hot) and run it through machine 5 or 6 times

5. make fresh solution and continue process
