Re: no picture

Had the same issue, no image when I turned it on to record. I read the previous post and acted upon the suggestion to contact Canon directly. They said no problem, gave me a number of a local service centre, I had to pay the shipping and they fixed the CCD Imager problem and shipped it back free of charge. Now, that's service!!!

Re: no picture

Possible CCD problem. There is quite a bit of units that are exhibiting this symptom. After having a tech verify that this is indeed the problem, AND ONLY THEN, I would try to contact the mfr, and explain to them that "in your own experience, that there seems to be an awful lot of imaging device failures." Many of them are made by the same OEM supplier and those defective units have been found in hundreds of different camcorder makes; Sony, Canon, JVC, Samsung, just to name a few. I hope this helps ease the pain...

Black screen in REC mode, bars across the screen in Playback mode

My advice is that you should by a DV cleaning cassette. Put this in the camera and run it for 10 to 20 seconds only. running the cleaning cassette for a long time may damage the head.
good luck!

Distorted sound on playback, samsung mini dv camcorder.

Try a DV tape cleaner first. If that doesn't work, see what it would take to get the audio heads realigned. Any camera store can do that for you.

Solid blue lines through Picture on playback mini DV PV-gs19

One possible cause is that normal recording
could not be performed because the heads were
dirty at the time of recording. Clean the heads,
and perform recording and playback again. If
normal playback can be performed, the heads are
clean. Before an important recording, be sure to
conduct a test recording to make sure that normal
recording can be performed.

≥If the heads become dirty soon after cleaning,
the problem may be the tape. If so, try another

≥During playback, the picture or sound may be
interrupted momentarily, but this is not a
malfunction of the Camcorder. (One possible
cause is that the playback is interrupted by dirt
or dust that momentarily adheres to the heads.)
