Question about RCA OPAL M4001 MP3 Player

First of all its an rca opal M4002

IT will not turn on. IT was working fine like 15 minutes ago, and i tried to update the firmware in it, and it said cannot lock device and shut off. now it wont turn on. THe screen is black, and reset isnt working.

It sound like its hold switch is on or stuck on the inside

M4002 RCA Opal says it is now playing, but doesn't move forward


Many updates end up deleting all songs off your player as a side effect - try reloading your songs onto the Opal and see if they will play after that.

Also, make sure the hold/lock switch wasn't accidentally activated.

Another possibility is that one of the updates made a change to which DRM licenses the player is compatible with. If you have songs with an older DRM-9 license, they may not be usable after the update. which music service do you get your songs from? If it is a licensing issue, then I would try loading only songs that are in mp3 format - they will never give you funky issues.

RCA M4002 mp3 does not turn on.


Download the latest firmware upgrade from www.rcaopal.com to restore the player. The firmware upgrade file will be on the "Download Upgrades" section of the website.

You need to actually get the newer software/drivers from the RCA website and THEN it is compatible - they are not explicit in the FAQ about this.

When I turn on my mp3 player it says 4MB needed for profiling.


it probably means 4mb to show the screen so delete somthing off it and try

My opal m4002 doesn't convert pictures and videos from my computer


try to reset your device by holding the power button for about 15-20 seconds...then let it go..that will reset the device for you...if that doesnt help get the latest firmware for your device...

The same thing happened to me.(I have a different model but I'm sure you can solve it the same) Go to the website and download the frimware thing and it will completly clean your MP3 of data you added. At least it did for me.
