Question about Generac 13,000 Watt / 13,000 Watt Home Standby Generator
Installed unit in Aug 2013 and it excercised fine the 1st month. As of Sept. started with "error 1200 overspeed" problem. Had tech check it out and he stated that it could be a pipping issue with N/G short run (4')3/4" to 1/2". My plumber redid the pipping to all 3/4" as suggested by "generac" problem not solved. Also why is the included flex pipe 1/2"?? My plumber believes its either the control board/gas regulator. Has anyone had the same problem and how was it "fixed"!!

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I work on these every day. Its either gonna be the rotor or stater, the voltage regulator, but most likely its a bad stepper motor which is the throttle motor, or control board. Thats all that could be causing that so its one of those. If its the rotor or stater thats bad it causes the generator to RPM up because it thinks its not producing enough power due to that. I had the same problem with the same one we just fixed and it was the slip rings on the end of the rotor so bad rotor.
