Re: cold freezer warm fridge.

That sound was the evaporator fan motor in the freezer. This circulates the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food section. If this is not running you need to check for power to it. If the fan has power to it but not running, replace it. It should be located behind freezers back wall inside of freezer near top.

Freezer works but fridge remains warm.

The same fan that circulates air in the freezer also blows air in to the fridge. If you open the freezer door and hold the door switch closed you should hear the fan running. If not you have a failed motor or motor control. Look at the back wall of the freezer section and see if there is a heavy frost build up. If so. you have a defrost system problem. Please post back with what you find and with the complete model number and I will try to walk you through the steps of checking everything.

Bottom of fridge not cold

After adjusting the settings switch or dial (usually inside fridge) you wait a couple of hours then see if bottom is colder. Most fridges (older models anyway) have an adjustment procedure. This worked for our Magic Chef purchased about 1994

Ive just had the same issue as the op with the same model fridge. The warranty center said to adjust the front level feet to elivate the front of the unit open both doors , defrost for 8-12 hours at least. This seems to be a problem in the colder months of the year. Once a full defrost has occurred level the feet again , and turn your fridge back on. Problem solved

Fridge is warm, was collecting water inside. Freezer is working fine. Increased temp but not responding. It is a bottom freezer model

send the model number off of the fridge,if the freezer is working fine then no air is being blown up to the fridge section, all it does is blow cold air from the freezer to the fridge section so either the door was left open and this is very common with a bottom mount freezer or the evap fan isn't blowing or on some models there's a damper inside the fridge section, the damper door opens and closes to let cold air in,when it reaches temp. the door closes, sometimes the door gets stuck in the closed position or the open position and the fridge freezes or gets warm depending on where the door is.first thing open the freezer door,do you hear the fan blowing,if not you could have a bad evap. fan motor, next look at the ceiling and on the packages,do you see frozen water droplets,if so the door was left open and the air ducts are froze up from the warm air getting in from the door being open and mixing with the cold air freezes up the air ducts, also stick your hand onto the back inside wall of the freezer,if there's like snow or frost on the inside back wall of the freezer you could have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board depending on the model or last a bad damper, when you open the fridge door there are air ducts usually up top and in the middle you should feel cold air blowing in,this is your problem the air isn't making it into the fridge section.if the door was left open, unplug the fridge, remove the food from the freezer and with a hair dryer heat up the back inside wall of the freezer and blow the hot air into the air vent holes in the back wall to melt out the air ducts, keep heating it up until you don't see any more water dripping, you can see the water dripping through the vent let me know what you find, send the model number and we can go from there.look up near the ceiling in the fridge section on the right hand wall and you should see a tag with the model and serial numbers, send the full model number so i can see what you have in your machine.

Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine

I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.

Most side by side and other models of refrigerator freezer combinations are of one basic design. The freezer section does the cooling for both compartments. The refrigerator section gets it cold air from the freezer compartment. Therefore check for frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost is present there you have a defrost problem and it is cutting off the air that cools the refrigerator section.

I think this problem may already be resolved in some manor because of the date of post. Posts should expire after an unreasonable time period.
