SOURCE: FAULT CODE ERROR CODE EE2

"EE2" is magnetron (2) failure, but it doesn't necessarily mean the magnetron is bad.

It simply means that the reading sensed by the current transformer is incorrect.

It could be the magnetron, HV transformer, rectifier diode, HV capacitor, door switch, or relay.

I have uploaded a similar service manual to my site. Bear in mind your parts number may vary.

It's at: http://www.microwvedisplay.com/R22GV_R22GT_R23GT_R24GT_sm.pdf

SOURCE: I have a sharp microwave

This sounds like a keypad problem, sometimes a short developes in the keypad controller causing all kinds of intermittent problems, on the back is the microprocessor circuit board which controls vital areas of the microwave oven. The cost to repair will be high and consideration should given to looking at a replacement.

I have a sharp microwave sometimes it works for 10 or 20 seconds and then stops with error ee2, other times it works fine. Today it did the same but stopped with error ee1!

The microwave screen says EE2

The fault code "EE2" on a Sharp commercial microwave oven means that the magnetron 2 circuit has a problem and is pulling too little or too much current.

It may be the magnetron, high voltage transformer, high voltage diode, wiring, etc.

Since you didn't mention your model number I can't say for sure, but magnetron 2 is usually the lower magnetron in a Sharp.

You can order Sharp commercial microwave parts here.

If you need more help, we may have the service manual for you to download free.

But we would need the model number.

Please note that FixYa is not currently notifying us Experts when Clarification Requests are answered.

So to allow us to help you effectively (at no charge), please post a
NEW problem to FixYa, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit and your symptom, "EE2" code.

Microwave error code

EE4 means the line voltage is too high. Usually this is fixed by resetting the voltage selector on the back.

The voltage selector may not look like a switch, looking rather like a metal panel that has to be taken off and reoriented. There will be a label next to it indicating a voltage number.

EE2 actually means that the control circuit senses that magnetron number 2 is not running.

It doesn't necessarily mean a bad magnetron.

This can be due to a bad or misaligned door switch (common), a failed relay (#3) on the control panel, or a failed high voltage component such as transformer #2, capacitor #2, rectifier #2 or magnetron #2 or loose connections anywhere along the chain.

We have a similar model's service manual on our site. Please not that yours may be different! Part numbers will probably not match. But it will help with safety, disassembly, discharge and diagnosis.
