Question about LG TROMM WM2688H 4.0 cu.ft. Front Loading SteamWasher

1 Answer

I bought a new drain pump, installed it and still getting the OE message. I have checked the hoses. Took off the drain hose from the drum and checked all three outlets on it. Put it all back together and it still is not right. The last time for some reason I stoped the cycle and went to start it back up but the machine made the weird noise like it is trying to drain the water but will not drain. Ended up having to drain it through the filter and put it in cleaning mode.. Have no clue what to do next. HELP

The valve also needs to open for the water to drain instead of recirculating the water. Is the water circulating during the wash or rinse cycle? If yes, check the diverter valve. Follow the drain hose to the valve - check for lose wire, if it getting current, remove wires, check conductivity. etc. It may have 120 Volts, so be careful. Do at your own risk.

SOURCE: water wont drain

Hi,
OE-pump blocked. Disconnect the power before attempting any work. Use of an RCD (plug in power breaker) is recommended.
Disconnect pump from sump hose and check for obstruction in either item. Pump removal: power off, remove cover, locate pump, (attached to other end of drain pipe).undo 2 wiring connections, 2 hose connections, and pump mounting screws. Remove pump chamber - some are held in with screws, others clip into place. Check for foreign objects round the impeller. If pump chamber is clear, may be a fault with the pump motor - in which case, replace.
Also check the filter - generally located behind a panel at the foot of the machine. Some are obvious like little square hatches and some are hidden behind the trim panel at the foot of the machine. Once panel is removed the filter should be visible. Its generally a circular plastic fitting which unscrews in an anticlockwise direction. Some hotpoint, indesit and ariston filters are located in the big black sump hose (the one that leaves the bottom of the outer drum and connects to the pump). Remove the back cover, locate hose, remove the tensioner clip by squeezing the tabs together, remove the hose, take out filter and clean.

Good Luck!!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You are right OE error is caused when the washer is unable to drain for 10 minutes. As you have already checked and cleaned the drain hose and it seems that you have cleaned the drain pump filter & still the issue is not resolved then it seems that the pump has gone bad and should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

What do we do after replacing the pump on an LG frontload washing machin, yet still get error message OE?

Assuming you cleaned the pump strainer?

Likely the drain hose leading from the pump to the drain, the section

inside the cabinet that "u-turns" back down is plugged up with

junk.. I had to remove the hose from the machine and force water

thru it at a outside faucet to clear what looked like a turd from the

inside of the drain hose..My shop vac could not dislodge it..

Whats the red key and circle llso shows a OE code on LG steam washer wm2487hwm

OE on the LG means the washer is not draining or has a draining issue. When it happened to me I started by manually draining the washer and then running a spin cycle. In a pinch the work around was OK but I could never be certain the wash was complete. Also the wife hated it.

Finally, I dug in and went for a fix. All the hoses were clear and the pump seemed to be working (also the pump screen needed clearing). I found the problem to be a breather hose that runs from the top of the drum to one of the drain hoses. It was plugged and I took it off and blew it out. Problem solved.

OE error message checked drain hose for kinks drain hose is clear

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

OE is a drain error and is displayed when the washer is unable to drain water. As you have already checked the drain hose and it is clear so check the drain pump filter for any clogs to clean the error. If the problem is still there after cleaning then replacing the drain pump is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

As you know OE is drain error. you still have a drain problem and this could be because the pump impeller has a coin or similar jamming it, or it could be that the pump motor itself is failing. If the drain hose is clear and not kinked and the pump is working the machine should drain........Good luck....Nomess
