Question about Gateway MD2614u Notebook
Hi i think i solve the problem on my laptop is keep on shutting down. i bought some thermal paste and took the fan and heatsink out and clean it up and put some around it. and now i boot it up and won't crashed any more and now i'm doing windows updating right now and still running. why does pc vs laptop temperature is different 1. pc motherboard 35 c laptop is 83 c,2. pc 29 degrees c laptop 78 degrees celc. 3. i have 2 fans running than laptop and that always gets hot easily,.
30-50C is normal idle temp, 50-100C when running stuff but anything over 70C is getting a little too hot if you ask me but i\'m not an expert on that one. The only thing you can do is make sure you have cleared out as much dust as you can from the inlet and outlet vents on the PC, make sure they are free to suck air and blow air, clean the fan blades, if still having probs thing about getting a better fan. The common mistake people have with laptops is using them on a bed or cushion which is a big NO no as this will block vents and end up burning out the PC, will overheat. Always use on flat surface. PC\'s have much more airflow so temp will be generally lower than a laptop as laptops are very compact not ideal for ventilation.

I would remove the heatsink and fan, clean the processor surfaces with methylated spirit or isopropanol, use new heatsink compound and that should fix your issue. Yes yes, heatsink pipe should get hot!
