One day it was just dead. No clock, no power. Checked circuit breaker, all fine. It was not being used when it died. Is there a fuse? The manual literally has no useful troubleshooting help.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician USA.

I do not know what country you live in.

You need to go into your computer search engine and search; "H 4880 BP Parts".

Allot of the parts suppliers have trouble shooting guides or a technician to speak to determine the problem.

How we can find the msi motherboard is dead ? What is trouble shooting and how we can run the trouble shooting beacause i dont why the engineer run the trouble shooting ?

there is not much you can do other than replace the leads these would be the firtst things to check or replace

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

The drive inside the MyBook is dead or in the process of dying. The drive needs to be returned to western digital for repair.

My laptop reads "operating system

When you "boot" your computer, it tries to read from all the "bootable" devices:
* diskette
* CD/DVD
* disk-drive
* USB memory-stick

for which the BIOS SETUP has listed as "bootable" devices.

If it cannot read the "boot" information from _ANY_ of those devices, it reports "operating system not found".

So, enter BIOS SETUP, and ensure that your disk-drive *IS* "detected" (i.e., not "dead")
and that it is "enabled" as one of the boot-devices.

The most-likely (and most-disasterous) cause is that your disk-drive has "died",
and the Windows operating system could not be read from the device.

Take your computer to a qualified technician, for professional trouble-shooting.
If you have the original "System Restore" set of CDs, take them, too.

Hard drive hums and computer will only work when the cpu is 90degrees to the surface it is sitting on.

Make a good backup of all your files, before the disk-drive (or the motherboard) completely "dies".

Then, take your computer to a Toshiba-approved technician, for professional trouble-shooting.

Take your computer to any computer-store, and get them to trouble-shoot, i.e., dead power-supply, or dead motherboard, or broken ON/OFF switch, or loose cable inside the computer.
