Question about Computers & Internet

My model BC1TB has not backed up for 10 days, and does not turn on when plugged into AC power. It it dead?

Seems to be not getting power, but I tried different AC outlets that I know are working and no go. What else can I do to see if it's broken?

It may not be your hard drive but the enclosure casing that is not powering up your drive. If you are a self do'er, open the enclosure and take the hard drive out. The hard drive should be a SATA. Do only this if the warranty has expired otherwise you will void the warranty. You can purchase another enclosure for your SATA drive. To test if the hard drive is still operable, you will need to open the case and connect the hard drive to a SATA controller via a data cable/15 pin power connector. If you're a novice, I recommend getting a hard drive docking station which will connect via usb to your computer/laptop.

Have you tried a different power cord? Perhaps the AC jack has been damaged due to pulling on the cord? Do you get any led's when you plug in the AC cord?

My Verbatim #BC1TB hard drive seems to have died. It won't turn on.

If this is a desktop, remove the side panel and blow it out using a shop vac in the blow mode. Blow out the dust and cobwebs. Worth a try. Jack

Power problems

Unplug the AC adapter (Charger) from power. Unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
Remove the Battery.

Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of 10 seconds.
(And I mean 10. Count, 1001,..1002,..1003,..etc)

Reinstall the Battery. Plug the AC adapter back in. Plug the AC adapter into power.

(ALWAYS plug the AC adapter into the laptop FIRST, then plug the AC adapter into power.
Why?
To avoid a voltage spike at the laptop)

WAIT 1 minute, turn the laptop on.

Still no?

Then the AC adapter needs to be checked, to see if it is putting out the correct voltage.

Don't know, Model Number wasn't stated.

AC adapter checks out, then it is on to the DC Power Jack.
The jack on the laptop (DC_IN) that the AC adapter plugs into.
What style?

Don't know the Model Number wasn't stated.

DC Power Jack checks out, then I suggest you have a problem with a Power MOSFET,

(Model Number is on the Bottom of the laptop. Plus, this IS a Dell, right?)

Post back in a Comment.

The wii was unplugged inadvertantly, once plugged back in it won't turn on...red light does not come on...what are the possible reasons ...cable had gone out earlier in day and had to reboot

You most likely need to reset the AC adapter.

This is a common problem with the Wii. Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector. If there was a power surge, or the power went out, etc...anything, this will happen. You plug it back in, the power comes on, but it appears dead. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10 minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 5 or 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up, and it should work.

My wii will not turn on, I have never had a problem with it before. I checked all of the plugs and everything seems great except it will not turn on.

It seems every 5th problem I see is this issue. Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii or in the Owner's Manual.

This is a common problem with the Wii. It happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc. Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens.

Power will come back on, or you'll go to turn the Wii on one day, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

Everything is plugged in, and it wont turn on

It seems even 5th or 6th problem is this. The AC adapter needs to be reset. Unplug it from the wall outlet for 5 to 10 minutes (NOT from the Wii, it HAS to be from the wall outlet).

Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii.

My laptop comes on but immediately turns back off after a few seconds. What's wrong

Sounds like a build up of static electricity. Try doing a power discharge.

1: Take out the battery.
2: From the adapter box (not the wall) unplug the power cord.
3: Press the power button 10 times. On the eleventh time hold it down between 25-35 seconds.
4: Plug in batter and power cord.

The computer should turn on. If not, the most likely cause is the system board or the AC adapter. You might want to try another AC adapter to ensure that the adapter is not the issue. If it's not the AC adapter then the system board is most likely dead and you need to call Lenovo (800-426-7378) to see if you're under warranty and can get the computer fixed.

TV will not turn on. Went dead shortly after turning on can't get it to turn on again. Seems like it is not getting AC. Yes its plugged in and there is juice to the socket.

If the red ring in front of tv is not lit when it is plugged in it is probably the power pcb. I just ordered one from searspartsdirect.com part # 860-AZO-IPOS150H FOR $45 plus shipping. installed today and everything is fine.
