-   same problem same model.. But the interesting part is that when i plug the headphones in the HD audio shows that i've plugged headphones into the jack. At first it was just occasionaly and after the reboot they've started working again. But for know I haven't heard a beep for a few months. And my headphones work on other devices too. And another problem is my battery when i'ts plugged in the computer just shut's down for know reason after 10 minutes. And the computer woldn't even start chargeing. I'm never ever going to brought an Acer in my life.!!!-   rax001

i got tired of trying all these suggestions because i can't seem to get consistent results... so i simply went to radio shack and bought a set of usb headphones... they plug into a usb port and work excellently

I have the same problem (Travelmate 2482 - not Aspire) when I switch between linux and windows (XP prof.) or sometimes when laptop is working all day.
The only one solution which works (in my case) is to turn off computer and disconnect AC adapter and battery for approx. 1.5 hour.

Unplug your headphones from the headphone jack, put your computer into standby or reboot, once finished loading up, try plugging in headphones again.

Exact same problem, same laptop model. The head phone jack works sometimes, and other times it just won't. I tried the standby thing. It didn't help.

I've had the laptop for about a year, and it just started doing this in the last couple of months.

Same problem. Acer 3680. My headphone jack does not work. Once in a while after a restart it will work, but not for long.

Comment by jade081868, posted on Nov 16, 2007

same problem... except i don't even get static... laptop speakers work fine... headphone stopped working two days ago on laptop (headphones still work fine on other equipment so i know it's the laptop jack)... i've had the laptop almost a year now and this is the first problem i've had... but after googling for info i've found a LOT of posts with the same problem, but have yet to find a solution to the problem
