Question about Computers & Internet
My headphone jack is no longer working. I have had the computer for just about a year and the headphones started acting up about a month ago. Now there is no sound at all. when I wiggle the plug in the jack I can hear static in the headset but nothing else. Please help!!
Right click my computer--> properties-->hardware-->device manager-->sound devices-->find realtek hd audio-->right click-->disable-->OK
wait at least 3 min
repeat and enable

I have the same problem (Travelmate 2482 - not Aspire) when I switch between linux and windows (XP prof.) or sometimes when laptop is working all day.
The only one solution which works (in my case) is to turn off computer and disconnect AC adapter and battery for approx. 1.5 hour.

Unplug your headphones from the headphone jack, put your computer into standby or reboot, once finished loading up, try plugging in headphones again.

SOURCE: Aspire 3680-2574 Headphone jack
did you try another set of head phones? the jack for the headphone where it was soldered most likely broke off you can take apart and try and resolder it.
