Question about toshibadirect.com
I just received a DVR602KU and connected it to my TV using the component connections. I can now play DVDs with no problem. When I try to play a Video tape (VHS), here's what I do and what happens: 1) Turn on the TV and select component in. 2) On the DVR remote, select VCR (now the VCR light is on) and the display on the DVR shows "L1". 3) Insert the video tape The DVR then turns itself off and I get a no signal message on my TV. When I turn the DVR on again, the video tape ejects. What do I have to do to fix this? BTW, If I switch to DVD mode and insert a DVD, it plays just fine.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You could try the factory initializing process I found on another webesite (AVS Forums): "Had this message pop up a few weeks ago. Tried the solutions in the manual, no go. Tried unplugging it for 7 days, no go. Called Toshiba customer service @1-800-631-3811, the tech told me: 1) turn on TV and set to receive your DVD signal 2) Turn on DVD player and remove any discs 3) put Dvd / VCR selector on DVD 4) at the same time, push channel selector button UP (^) along with the PLAY button 5) hold the buttons down until TV screen shows "Initializing" message, release buttons, let DVD player go thru it's reset cycle and shut down 6) turn DVD player on and watch your DVD movies now Works like a charm. Put this in your manual for the next time." My unit has not worked since December of last year, I only had it for one year and it conveniently stopped working right after the one year warranty. My unit was not functioning whatsoever past turning it on, but when I did the factory initialization I was able to operate my unit again....UNFORTUNATELY, it still does not read disks, I still get the "Incorrect Disk" message. I guess I could consider it progress. But still try it, it may work for you. My unit just seems to be fried beyond repair. If anyone has any suggestions on how to correct the incorrect disk problem, I would be greatly appreciative. I'm not ready to throw mine away yet!
