C185 Compressor Overheating

Flushed the oil system because it died and Hog maneur backed up in it everything is put back together and it overheats in 5 to 10 min at the Airend Shut off thermo what is wrong

Hi,

Pls check the thermostat. It is most likely a sticking or even stucked as that is basically its purpose, to restrict the coolant flow and allow the engine to reach operating temperature thereafter grant free flow of the coolant. It would seem that there is considerable delay in its opening and therefore the temperature rises above the normal operating temperature.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Mothers Jeep did the same thing. We changed the water pump and solve the problem. heater worked amazing after swap also!

SOURCE: My Jeep overheats while sitting idle. When I drive, the gauge goes down quickly. I have had thermostat and fan changed. I have also had the radiator flushed. What can it be?

we have a 2003 and it did the very same thing . Its called cooling fan relay it costs about 60.00 and is located behind the headlight assembly . not very hard to fix if you know anything about cars .

check the casting on your replacement water pump..4.0l engines require a reverse rotating water pump..may be causing your problem.

SOURCE: I have a Craftsman Twin-V oil free air compressor.

You have an inner and an outer balance weight. The weights are installed next to each piston with the connecting rod fully extended so the large side is directly opposite of the connecting rod.

The ecentric pin item 39 has to be removed from the motor (Threaded) so that you can pull the pin off of the motor shaft and through each of the connecting rods along with getting the weights in correctly once removed.

The key to getting the new weight installed is getting the ecentric pin off of the motor shaft. Look at the direction of rotation of the motor.... the ecentric pin threads will be the direction of rotation for removal.

Just had the entire coolant system replaced on my 07 Malibu about 5 days later my engine dies.it ran great before.they said they took out a sparkplug and it was bent.could they of done something wrong


It is doubtful that they did something wrong. After all, the car ran for 5 days. You would have seen a puddle of coolant under the car or you would have seen the engine overheat if they had not put everything back together correctly.

There is a lot more to air conditioning than putting a new compressor on. I hope that you checked the fuses, checked the low side safety switch, drained and flushed the system, put in a new receiver dryer and vacuumed the system, put the oil back in the system and then put in new Freon.

I have a 1995 saturn.it only overheats when i drive it.it does fine when it idles.i have changed the water pump thermostat fan motor and radiator cap and flushed the whole system and it still overheats.


If your car is overheating when you drive it,but you have replaced and made sure the radiator fan motor is working and coming on,you have flushed the system and replaced all your cooling components,then you may have a blown head gasket.Check for a milky white look to your oil dipstick.If so,you have a blown head gasket.or you might also have an air pocket in your cooling system that you need to bleed out.Good luck.

need to have the a/c system evacuated and flushed out with the appropriate cleaner.Replace the orifice tube and drier, and purchase a retrofit kit at any parts house. Recharge system with appropriate amount of oil charge and freon. It will take less R134a than it did R12.

hello your intake gasket is most likely leaking internally into your engine.pretty common problem.the plastic and silicon gaskets get weak over time.

Intermittent overheating


You have blown another head gasket. Oil won't get into the coolant, or coolant into the oil, but after the engine warms up exhaust gas will force it's way into the water jacket and stop coolant from flowing through. The best part is that it will be intermittent for a while, which makes it hard to find, but it will get progressively worse. Hopefully, it will be the same gasket the dealer has already replaced, which will help you convince them to warranty the job. You might want to make sure they had the head machined before putting it all back together. Good luck!
