Have not used my unit for 5 years and I notice a funny smell. How do I deodorize or clean it?Model #CPN10XC9

There are evaporator coil cleaners that have a pretty good scent. And some have a disinfectant for mildew. Hardware stores carry it or any a/c or refrigeration parts houses. Ask for EVAPORATOR NO RINSE. It's an aerosol that washes away with the condensate. And the insulation is a bit tougher to clean. There are also ODOR CAKES they use on smoke damaged homes at the parts house. They may call them something else. Just open it and lay it in the return air somewhere.

Heater, ac and fan speeds all working fine. Compressor not kicking in...just auxiliary heat working.

Outside temp too low, so outside thermostat and it's settings will not allow the heat pump to work. But insist on the ausilary heat to work instead. Heat pumps usually do not produce enough heat when below 40F outside temp. If you have Gas heat, it may be more economical than the heat pump below 40F. If electric auxilarry heat, it may compete at 32F. Talk to your dealer, installer, or manufacture.

Why doesn't the compressor start in the heat mode

If the compressor is off and the heat coil is on - this is normal for the "E" or emergency heat setting. Check for proper connections between the Heat-pump, furnace(heat source) and the thermostat and that the thermostat is capable of controlling a heat-pump with secondary/emergency heat units. Thermostats designed for this have 4 settings: Cool / off / heat / E(emergency heat). in the "heat" setting, both the Heat-pump and Aux heat work together to maintain temperature. In the "E" setting, only the Aux heat source is used. The "E" setting should only be used in extreme cold - when the Heat-pump can no longer produce heat.

I have an air conditioner portable Model: CPN10XC9, and have a problem, when I plug it into the wall outlet will not turn on and the screen lights E1. I clean the filter as the manual says and yet the E1...

I dont know what the E1 stands for but make sure that if its on an extension cord that its rated for appliance use and you might try another outlet. Sometimes the load from an a/c is great enough that the receptacle overheats and causes the problem.

Problem with Haier CPN10XC9 Portable Air Conditioner: water accumulates around bottom of filter area

Samsung E163 EEPROM option error? Program the right option codes!! In my case the complete airconditioning installation (3 x indoor and 1 x outdoor unit) didn't work because the E163 code was showed on one of the indoor unit. After I followed the procedure (remove batt from remote control, put them in again holding down the right knobs, etc see the manuals you can find on the internet) I programmed the right codes within 5 minutes and the problem was fixed, the error code was gone and the complete installation was working again. So don't replace boards, electronics etc....just put in de right option codes. John, Netherlands.

All of a sudden it stopped working. The display now only blinks STOP. I tried unplugging it, resetting it, pushing the on/off button. Nothing happens, it just keeps flashing STOP. Very frustrating

I had the same problem until i opened the drain and got it nice and clear. Pushed the reset button and now it works, hopefully thats what fixes your problem.

Haier CPN10XC9 leaking water. Have drained the

I had the same problem, removed rear cover (15 screws) and found a drain slot under the conderser plugged with dust and grime. gently cleaned the slotted area out with a Q-tip, and the condensate is now following the proper flow into the tan and evaporator. It has been running for 2 hours with no drips!!
