Sanyo 42" 1080hdtv lcd model # dp4d23 I cannot get sound to play thru the stereo or stereo speakers either from the tv or when I have the computer hooked up to the tv. I have picture from computer but no sound.
If it is just the sound from the computer then if you have windows look for the little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, right click this, select "Sounds" then select playback (while connected to the tv) and chose the tv as the output device (set to default).
If on the other hand the issue is with the tv at all times then try going into the menu settings of the tv and looking for the various sound options. Possibly the remote control will have an audio button that scrolls through various audio options (two circles followed by roman numerals?).
Hope this is of some help.

Is the mute button on?
Depending on your technicla skill, you could open it up and check that the leads are connnected to the internal speakers. They may have come adrift.

good day.
The crt circuit of the unit might be loose or the the parts inside the board is loose. Have it hecked by a technician first. Minor parts inside might caused the problem.
Response is highly appreciated.

Well after playing around with the tv some more, I decided the problem was probably the cable jack, and tried running the video in/out cables thru the VCR to get around this, which I read generally works but in this case nothing. I had tried the tv on various settings, anytime I put the tv in "video" mode I'd get a blue screen and nothing else. Anyway I found a switch in the back of the Direct Tv box for ch. 3 & 4 settings. So I flipped it but still got a snowy picture, only this time it was on ch 4 instead of ch 3. By sheer accident I put the tv back in video mode while I had the satilites setting to ch 4, and the picture came up crystal clear. Since I didn't mess with it further, I'm not sure if it was the channel selector or the fact that hooked the tv up via the video cables, but whatever it was it did the trick.
I just KNEW this could not be a broken tv despite the fact that everhwere I read online suggested it was. I knew pictures can go out, or sound can go out....but to have BOTH go out didn't make sense to me. Anyway, glad its working! :)

try to fine tune your tv using the remote control, or, if you had knowleged in electronics adjust the sound IF transformer using a wood stick or plastic don't use a metal in adjusting the IF
SOURCE: no sound from xbox to stereo using an optical out from TV to amp
If Im reading this right what you need to do
is hook the audio from the xbox to the stereo system
not to the tv .
